May I join in?

I have been lurking around reading off and on for the past year and a half. I stayed off the scale, and off the eating plan, and off the exercise plan, for about the last 6 months and in that time I gained what I had lost, and then some. When the scale registered 293 lbs at the doctor's office October 15, 2004, I was speechless. I haven't been able to stop thinking about how much I weigh, and how everything that should be smooth and strong is just lumpy and soft. I have lost 6 lbs in the last two weeks, and I start a six week program at my gym Monday.

Sometimes it takes a trip to the Dr.'s office to force you into reality. That same thing happened to me in 1996. The exact same weight too!! It was when Phen-fen was really popular. This Dr wouldn't give it to me and tried to talk me into stomach surgury. I said not me and went to another Dr who would put me on the meds. I lost 74 pounds and then last year was back up to 280. That of course scared me again and now I am at 240.(back up from 225). Never ending story.

Good to see that you have a plan. I wish you well. Damn wish I could get it off and keep it off. :-)Stephanie Oh yea, welcome to the board

That is so great Pink Peony!

I know you are going to do great.

I know your pain. My shock was given to me at the doctors office also. I was just supiedfied. I was just mortified and disgusted. I am so sick of being FAT.

This board give me courage to continue. I wish my cheap "behind" insurance company would pay for an operation. It's not like they aren't going to be in there anyway! I have to have my gall bladder taken out. And my meds will eventually add up and surpass the expense of an operation. UGGH!

Welcome Pink Peony, It sounds like you are on the right track. As we all know a failure to plan is a plan to fail right(I have heard this many times on another board I belong to, it's good advice). I too am a newbie so I am at the moment starting over again also, hopefully we can both get the weight off and get healthy.:)
