Eh, Sussie Q! Hello, tex!

Hummus is a relatively low carb, healthy dip: it is greek, and is garbanzo beans (chickpeas), garlic, olive oil, salt, tahini (sesame seed paste) and lemon juice. You can buy it in the refrigerator part of your grocery store (check the label to make sure there is no sugar, it is unusual but happens) or you can make it yourself by putting all of the ingrediants in a food processor or just mashin' the heck out of them with a fork. Usually you can eat it with toasted whole wheat pita bread or veggies. It has fibre and good fats.

Twy it you'll lwike it! another of my fav greek dips is Tzatskiki sauce (garlic, plain yogurt, lemon juice, grated cucumber, sometimes dill).

Breakfast: ffsf yogurt, peanut butta, cocoa

Lunch: small steak, grilled eggplant and onion, salad w. mozzarella slice and

balsamic vinagrette

Snack: 20 pistachio nuts. ffsf fudgicle

Dinner: vegetable patty in olive oil, grilled eggplant, hummus

Going to the gym to work it, baby!

The last 4 days have been closer to what I want myself eating than I usually manage to stay. This is where I tend to shoot myself in the foot and snarf down Doritos or microwave butter popcorn. If I can make it through Sunday after church, I am going to treat myself to a nap while my kids nap...

Well, I am one of those who DESPISES hummus.

And yet I have a container of it in the fridge. I eat it when I want to punish myself for eating junk, because it tastes terrible (IMHO) and fills me up for hours (days!) and I can't eat anything else.

Oh no! Y'all are bashing some of my favorites!

I love hummus, especially with a little garlic. I've had not-so-good hummus, so I have to guess that people who don't like it have never had a good batch of it.

Tofu is great, too! Very low fat, high in protein and soy is sooo good for you. Tofu is cool because it can be used in all kinds of recipes and it takes on the flavors that it's with. Last week I made lasagne and cut the ricotta in half and mixed it with a block of tofu (smushed up). My husband didn't even know it was there until after we finished dinner. One of my friends also makes a tofu peanut butter pie that is to die for. Again, you'd have no idea there was tofu in it unless you were told. My personal favorite, though, is to cut it up and sautee it in a little olive oil and then put it into a stir fry. Yum. (I know you all think I'm weird, but I don't care!)

Now, Shawna, I can't believe you've never tried Feta! It's wonderful. You can get cow's milk feta if the goat cheese thing weirds you out. Feta has this unique little wang that is so good. I'm craving it just talking about it.

Thursday 11/4

B-Kashi go lean crunch, w/soymilk (it's good). Green tea

L-Baked potato w/ff sour cream & soy cheese. Baby carrots & celery and spicy 3 pepper hummus (I was craving it after all this talk). 2 Smarties candies. Diet Dr. Pepper (doh!)

Snack-1/2 mocha coffee, 3/4 lemon raspberry bar (I'm buzzed from the coffee! I haven't had a cup of coffee in months. Woo-hoo!)

Shawna!.....

I loveeee feta cheese! I often add it to my salads. If you like Blue Cheese dressing then you like feta cheese, as it is what blue cheese is!

Tofu (sounds like toe fungus! hahahah) in any case I love to make breakfast drinks with that. I really just takes on the flavor of whatever you blend with it.

Erin,

I've had homemade hummous that everyone else drools over, so I really don't like it. Store bought is even worse, of course.

I do love tofu of all kinds, but only if it's flavoured in an Asian kind of way, I guess since because I'm chinese, I just can't wrap my brain around basil-sundried tomato tofu or something like that.

Feta is awesome, I love it on a Greek salad with Kalamata olives. Mmmmh!
