Well, I knew that losing the last 30 pounds was not going to be easy, but I didn't really think it would be this hard. I haven't lost any subtantial weight since March, and I don't know what to do next. I suppose the fact that I have almost zero desire to exercise has something to do with it, but I guess I've been lucky that I've actually been able to lose most of my weight with little to no exercise, it's been strictly with diet. But now that I'm trying to get past my plateau, I'm doing exactly the same thing I did in the beginning and seeing NO results. Like, I'm doing induction again, but this week my weight has gone from a high of 207 to a low of 203...today I'm 206. I just can't get the loss going again. So I had an idea today that I shouldn't be weighing myself every day. I used to do this and benefit from it because I would literally see a pound gone each day, for about a week every month. Talk about motivating!! But now, my motivation is shot, because it just seems that my body doesn't want to go below 200. On Wednesday I was super motivated, because the scale said 203, when the previous day it said 207! So I figured, great, my body is cooperating, but then the next day it was 205! And I had stuck to my diet, so I don't get why my body keeps going up and down like this. I've tried upping my carbs, didn't work. Now induction isn't working, and I am starting to get really tired of my food choices.
I know that I would be more motivated to exercise if I could afford to join a gym, but unfortunately I'm not in a place yet where I can justify spending that much money each month on a gym membership. I'm forced to be tight with my money, and while it would be a great investment, I still have too many bills to worry about.
Has anyone found that they had more success by weighing just once a week? I thought maybe then I'll be super motivated during the week if I have a certain weigh-in day. I just think that maybe I'm focusing too much on that number instead of how good I feel, or how I look. I'm just TIRED of weighing 200 pounds! It will be more motivating for me to see the 100's, then I'll feel that I'm JUST around the corner from my goal weight!
Does anyone else have suggestions for what I could do different?

Lately I've been measuring myself once a week or even once every two weeks and I notice changes. But I really think the key to getting over that plateau is exercise. I know you've lost so much weight through diet alone but believe me, once you start to incorporate exercise you'll notice even great changes.
I know myself I can't afford a gym membership so I purchased a great exercise ball, some hand weights, elastics and pair of quality walking shoes. So when I'm watching the tele I do crunchs, weights, squats, etc. and I walk everywhere. Honestly, try it for a few weeks and you'll notice a difference in your size and shape (not necessarily in weight at first...that takes a little longer but once it kicks in and you've developed those muscles the weight will start to come off again).
Good luck!
Cheers

Hello-- I wish I had a canadian flag on my posts too!
I have had the same problem pretty much: I have been sticking to my diet, I have been drinking the water, I have been exercising more consistantly than I have in the last YEAR and for two weeks the evil scale has not moved a fraction. It is REALLY pissing me off. I think it has something to do with exericising as all of my clothes fit better, so I must be gaining muscle weight or something. Arrgh, arrgh.
I tried to hide the damn scale by putting up in my closet on the top shelf, and then every morning I was banging around, climbing drawers to pull it down and weigh myself! I would LOVE to have your ability to just disregard the terrible numbers. How do you DO that???
And I also SO want to be at onederland. I have been so close, so many times. Maybe I will just harness this aggression and run to the gym and throw around some dumbells.
Arrgh, arrgh, arrgh!!!!

Um. Home workouts. I had to do home workouts until this month when I splurged on a gym pass. I just had a skipping rope and tried some pilates videos from the library, and tried walking stairs in my apartment building and going for big walks.
In the end I checked all the prices on gyms in my city and the YMCA was the cheapest, and sometimes even have a subsidy program if you are low income or a student.
I really wish you luck on getting to the one hundreds!

Hey Sabrina!
I'm glad that you brought up the idea of allowing yourself controlled cheats. I was actually thinking about doing that before I read your post, because I thought that if I could just let myself relax a bit for one day out of the week, it will be a motivating factor. Now, I don't mean going hog-wild all day long, but just a treat, something I'm not usually allowed to have. Initially I thought that it might hurt my weight loss, but then I thought that having one little cheat once a week is better than not allowing myself ANY cheats. When I don't let myself indulge every now and then, I go crazy at PMS time and sometimes end up cheating for a whole WEEK. So thanks for your input, now I'm sure that I can benefit from doing this! ~Sabrina
Thanks for your suggestions, I will try eating different foods, but it's hard because I'm doing induction again, so my choices are limited. But I'll be experimenting anyway, because I'm going to do some Christmas cooking/baking soon, so I'll try to be more creative. Good luck with your weight loss, and I look forward to more of your posts! ~Sabrina
