Let's get this party started!

This is so important that I actually used an emoticon!

Lately, I have had a real problem with motivation... I've slowly been working my way up the scale (from 150 to 174 as of this morning, in 5 months) and it's got to stop! Somehow I'll find my motivation, but I can't seem to find any here on 100+. I know Shawna has been having the same types of problems, and as I thought about it and looked around the board, well... it seems to me that lots of other people are having the same problem and have been for a *long time.* What's with us all? Isn't this a support board? Or are we so busy supporting others that we don't have time for ourselves? Come on now.

Pretty much the only posting that seems to be going on here is spurts when trolls come along, and newbies introducing themselves and asking questions. The aborted journal attempts don't seem to be inspiring anyone, we never really hear about exercise, heck even the recipes being posted don't contain any nutritional information and aren't all that "low fat/low carb/low whatever" either! And forget the challenges... can you say half-hearted?

As the title suggests, let's GET IT ON! This board used to lose weight! Now all we're doing is supporting each others stalls and excuses! I applaud those of us who have been continuing on the journey in the right direction (Jodi comes to mind right off the bat), now it's time for the rest of us to MOOOOOOVE!

Can we sit down and figure out some challenges that will take us to the end of the year - that's right, through the holidays and NOT AROUND THEM! Weekly, monthly, "now until new years", I don't care about the time frame but let's do it and stick to it. Doesn't have to be some enormous "drink 120oz of water a day" or "workout 7 hours a week" or a big sudden turn-around in how we're eating. Starting small is good - how about personal challenges? For me, it would be drinking water again. For someone else it might be taking a 20 minute walk every other day. Doesn't matter, but we need to be accountable to everyone here on 100+ and if we're not accomplishing our goal? Then we need to be ok with getting our arse's kicked by the rest of the board, and those arse-kickers need to realise that there will be no reprisals!

It's time to admit we've lost control, and ask our friends to help us get it back. Anyone with me? (:

I'm all for this and I think Shawna has made an excellent start with the Journaling thread, and someone else with the How much did you lose this week thread.

Here are some challenge ideas, please feel free to add to the list - or give reasons why you think something shouldn't be on it.

Whole-board Challenges:

Journal Daily

Water Ounces

Exercise Minutes

Fruits/Veggies 5 Servings Per Day

Weekly Fruit/Veg Color*

Daily Recipe/New Food Posting

Personal Challenges:

Water Intake Increased Daily

Exercise x times Per Week

Cut Out Snacks

Add A Fruit/Veg

Remember Multi-Vitamin

Experiment with New Recipes

Brain Challenges:

Read a Magazine/Book; Post a Review

Daily Meditation

Do a Crossword/Brain Teaser

* I saw this "color" thing on another board, not sure which one. I'll try to find it again. Each week was designated with a color, for example... ORANGE. So the challenge was to get a fruit and/or veg in at least once a day that was that color. They also posted recipes using those. Obvious choices for orange would be oranges and carrots. (Yes, I realised neither of those would work for someone on low-carb, it was just an example.)

Keep the party going (:

I am with you I deffintally need a good kick in the butt. The challenge a couple weeks ago really got me motivated till everything came crashing down around me because of kids being sick and being stressed. But now I am ready to start again and hopefully stick to it.

I am in.

There are a lot of things I do to keep myself motivated.

I am proud of some of you for doing what you have when we all have stressful lives.

I don't make a lot of excuses, I only allow myself my once a week treat. But I think it is because I have so much to loose still. I won't let go.

I am ready for a challange.

I don't feel offended by your post. I think you're 100% right. We are supportive.....of our excuses! I know I am sooooo guilty of making and enabling excuses. I could be queen of them. I whine, I moan, I get bummed out......but do I get my butt in gear and lose weight? No. I just go back to whining and moaning!

So, I'm with you.....I'm ready for the butt-kicks for not losing, or not exercising or whatever....

Journals aren't really my thing (NOT an excuse), I keep track on the WW site. Challenges are good, as are the weekly weigh-ins.

Anyway, lets get it going, guys!

Yeap, I'm not a journaller either, I just can't stand it. Soo.. I was also thinking we could do 2 weekly challenges. That way people can choose which one (or both!) to DO (there is no TRY!)

And I definitely hear you about the whining and moaning and then getting nothing done. It's all I've been doing for a couple months now. As Shawna puts it, I haven't hit rock bottom yet but I can't afford to wait until I hit there, right?

Well...something like one week you read, one week you take a five minute meditation per day, one week you do a puzzle challenge, like crosswords, or something like that....Just something that will stimulate your brain.
