Hi Judy - Boy, do I know what you are talking about!! Unfortunately I don't have a great deal of helpful information. I have Crohn's Disease, so prednisone is my frequent "friend" - mind you, I'm usually on 40 mg for several weeks at a time and then tapering down from there. It makes me VERY hungry, and usually I crave protein like crazy - I'm not usually a big eater, but when I'm on prednisone I could have a steak for every meal. I usually focus on making sure that I get some form of protein every 3 hours or so, and keep a ton of fruits and vegetables on hand to make me feel more full. (tricky with the Crohn's, since I can't have too much fibre). The good thing is that prednisone often gives people a burst of energy too - so if you are feeling that you might take advantage of it to up your physical activity (of course, I don't know why you are taking it, so you may feel to crummy to do that). I have to admit, though, that I consider it success just not to gain while I'm on it - hopefully you'll have more luck that me!

I am on predisone because I have rhuematoid arthritis and it helps inflamation and pain.

I have some pain already in my ankles just going down one mg.I hope it does not get too bad.The doctor said if I could not get off he could try going up on my mertotrexate and try something else with it.I have been taking xenical for 3 weeks that my internist

gave me and have not lost weight,I also have not had the side effects of diahrea,so maybe

it just is not going to work with me.I will just have to eat right wwhich I do anyway.

I will not go higher than 10 mg. because it will make me eat like crazy and I work in a travel center around junk food and doughnuts all day.I make sure I eat mt breakfast and take my lunch to work so I will eat right. Thanks for the info....Judy

Hi Shawna, Predisone is a steroid that is very good for inflamation of the joints and a whole lot of other medical problems such as asthma and hives and many more things. It will

make you feel good and will make you eat like you have never eaten before. My dh asked me one time what was wrong with me.We eat right because he is diabetic like half the country now.It is almost like a curse. My rhematologist said he is trying to reduce my slowly and then put me on another medication to go with my methotrexate.Thank goodness they can treat rhuematoid arhiritis now or I do not know if I would still be working. The worst thing would be for me to not to be moving around and sitting at home.I hope this answers your question, that is the best way I know how to explain it. Thank you for your interest
