4.5 pound gain?!?!?

Ok, I know I haven't been doing as well as I was earlier this year. But I haven't done anything differently than I have been in the past month or so. I've been either maintaining or losing (slowly) during this past month and a half. But this week I GAINED 4.5 POUNDS????? WTF???? It can't all be fat, right? If it takes 3500 extra calories (either 3500 calories more eaten or 3500 less calories burned, or a combination of the two) to gain one pound, then that means I would have had to eat an excess of 15,750 calories this week over what I burned. That's got to be impossible. I KNOW I didn't do that. So, water weight maybe? AF should be coming soon, I think (I'm not regular, so I'm not sure when it's coming). I'm not looking for an excuse, especially when I know that some of this is probably actual fat gain. But I just don't see how a relatively normal person, doing basically the same thing she's been doing for weeks, can have a gain like this. Oh, well. Maybe this is the kick in the butt I need. I'm off to do the treadmill now. Thank goodness the challenges are coming up!

My guess is that it is Aunt Flo showing up, but keep a journal of everything you eat and drink for the next few days to see if some little things are causing the problems. Good luck and hang in there. You are doing so great and almost to your first goal. sharla

Thanks, everyone. I guess I haven't been doing as well lately as I should be, and it looks like it all caught up to me. Well, I'm not going to get discouraged. In fact, after I posted this yesterday, I went on the treadmill, planned on only doing 20 minutes, and instead I did 35 minutes. I also did it at a brisker pace than usual, so that was good. I felt great afterwards! So instead of getting discouraged, I'm getting back on track and that weight will come off in no time. I'm not going to worry about why there was a gain, I'm just going to move forward and get back on track. Thanks again for your encouragement!
