Well I got a good suprize in my e-mail last night! A plane ticket conf. flying to NYC for Thanksgiving. My friend Scott lives there and want's me to come visit.

I fly on Thursday, come home Monday. I am so excited. I needed to get away and I can SHOP!

The drawbacks. It is NYC and the Fooooooooood!

We are going to a broadway play Friday, the Knicks game Saturday, a jazz club Sunday and of course will be shopping my butt off the entire time. The one good thing is I will be doing a lot of walking. Since he knows how important the gym is to me, he looked up all the Bally's in Manhattan and he will take me and pick me up.

But, how to stay OP? For the flight there and back and the in between times I am going to take some protien bars, 100 calorie packs and a nurti grain bar here and there. Try and stick to some salads and stuff like that.

As much as I would like to I cannot drink while I am there. Everytime I do I gain no matter what.

Any suggestions on some ways to enjoy the city but not go overboard?

I have a journal and honestly I journal everything that goes into my mouth. I also journal my thoughts about food and all of the stuff I do at the gym.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Well according to Stacy and Clint (What Not to Wear), the only way to find clothes that you can "wear well" is to spend 200 bucks on a tshirt and 500 on a skirt! What's a diehard Old Navy fan to do? LOL!

I do wonder sometimes, however, how those two would dress my belly *snort* I wish they did "best friend" episodes... I'd nominate Shawna and myself in a heartbeat!

More shopping is a good option. Like I said I think we will be doing a lot of walking too.

Plus I have the option of going to the gym which I will be doing.

I am going to keep things light, salads and chicken breasts. He knows I am on WW so I am sure he will make some good choices as to where to go. :)

I might splurge a little. I want to behave tho. I want to become a Hoilday Hottie ;)

Hi JOdi. Having just spent a weekend there, I can tell you that there is no end to the restaurants. This is actually good cuz there are so many things to choose from....vegetarian, Indian, Thai, Italian, stuff I've never heard of. The choices are endless and so it might be easier to eat healthy. Most places also post their menus outside the restaurant, so you can see what they have BEFORE you go in.

The walking will save you. We walked everywhere, and it was great. You will definitely burn off what you eat!

Waht show are you seeing? We saw Bombay Dreams.....pretty good.

Enjoy! NYC is so nice this time of year, with all the decorations and stuff. I bought my girls "cashmere" scarves from a street vendor for $10! They love it and if they lose it, so what? Also a guy was selling Luis Vitton handbags FROM A GARBAGE BAG? Can you say FAKE?

Don't worry about the food, eating, drinking, whatever. Its NEW YORK CITY! Enjoy.

There are lots of fakes out there. I may get a few, I have their luggage as well and I had one piece stolen so I may replace it with a fake.

Ok thanks for the info Dawn.

Scott is going to forward me a list of things he can get tickets to and we are going to decide from there.

He is being really sweet about the whole thing. Making all kinds of plans and stuff. So it is really exciting for me. He want's to show me off and show me the city.

So I am stoked. I really needed something like this to life my spirits!

Walking, walk and more walking, plus lots of shopping bags to carry! LOL I will get my workouts in.
