Has anyone ever heard that if you drink a quart of ice water right before you eat, and I mean drink it in five minutes or less, that your body will metabolise your food faster?

I've never heard that, but I have heard that when you drink ice cold water you use more calories when the water heats up in your body, but I don't think the number of extra calories burned would be very much. I do think that by drinking water before a meal, no matter what temperature it is, will fill your stomach so you're apt to eat less. But it's an interesting theory. I'm interested to hear what others have to say about it.

I've heard it, but it doesn't really make any scientific sense to me so I don't know what to think about it. It's also said that more water is absorbed into your system if you drink it cold rather than room temp *shrug*

I have not heard this, but I do know that the body has to burn a few more calories to warm that water up. Ever lay in bed freezing and you have to pee really bad? The body needs to kep that fluid warm, and it draws it from the skin surface IN. Not that this answers you question and I am a useless dolt, but I wanted to share anyay.

I have heard the cold water theory, that your metabolism increases when you drink it. I'm trying to drink at least 2 liters of ice water a day to see if it makes any difference. I'll let ya'll know.
