Has anyone else run into problems with constipation after starting a new diet? I'm having issues!!! I don't want to take a laxative if I can help it, and I'm eating all kinds of veggies and fiber, so I don't know what the problem is. Help!!!

It isn't icky is one of those things.

To be honest I have been faced with the same problem as of late. I have changed up my diet a little and it seems to be helping but your body goes into modes where this happens.

Try a fiber pill or correctol is very very mild or it has been in my case.

Also grease as bad as it may be, has it's merits. This being one of them. If you have been good, than mix it up with something that may have normally gotten your body moving.

I know for me, it has been painful, when I am working out it really bothers me so I needed to do a few things in order to get the "plumbing" back in gear.

I've had more problems in this area than I care to admit to.

Oh NO you mentioned hemmy's! Now mine are going to flare up just to get noticed, lol. I have the opposite problem from you all... I'm prone to diarhea - sometimes just for no reason at all. Lately from my eating more veggies. It'll go on for weeks and geez you'd think it would make me lose weight but nooooo, I get no benefit from it at all!

Uh...well..Ladies, NOT A PEEP!

Yes, it happens to me all the time. Try more water and add Metamucil into your day, and work up to twice a day. I swear.

Peep!

Personally, when I start a workout/diet, I have a bit of the same problem, however, one day I'll be overflowing, the next day I'm a freakin' dam.

I am a lurker here , but try taking daily fatty acid pills. When we diet we cut fat out of our diet, but our body needs the good fat to work properly. You can buy these at a health food store and sometimes the grocery store (at least in Canada you can). They can be called OMEGA 3 pills too. The added benefit of this is it will help with dry skin and make your hair softer.

Also drink your water. 8 glasses at least per day.

And to go along with Carol's idea, another great source of B Vitamins, protein, fiber, and healthy fat is flax seed, also known as linseed, linseed oil.... I know you all are sick to death of me yapping about the damned flax, but I love it.

It can be found in most grocery and/or specialty stores - and if you are LUCKY ENOUGH to have a Trader Joe's near you, they will have it. Oh, and I hate you and envy the air you breathe. Ahem.

Anyway, flax is small, shiny and has a nutty flavor, and should be milled/ground to break the husk so it can be digested easier. If not, it will pass thru the system whole.

I whack away at it with the coffee grinder, and it doesn't need to be dust, just a few whirls will do. I put it in yogurt, sprinkle it on toast with PB, and will sometims put it in soup at the last second before eating it.

Whatever you do, don't cook it. It get snotty, slimy and GAAAAAG.

So, between the flax and water and Metamucil, I am a happy shark.
