Hey Everyone!
My names Colleen, im 18 and I myself am tryin to loose weight but what I would really love to do is help my mom loose weight. She is over weight, and I will never call her "fat" or be embaressed to be seen with her. It's just that, im really scared im gonna lose her because she wont do anything about it. There's 9 kids in my family, 4 are foster they are the youngest 2-5 yrs of age. She's at home with the Baby untill I come around 10:30. I want my mom to feel young and happy and be able to move around better. She gets embaressed and it makes me sad. I see pictures of her when she was younger and she was abou 130 now add what she is now and its sad. She's beautiful, but shes so sad because of her weight, she has a hard time walking, and shes on medication, I want her to have so much fun with the family again. Are family plans on buyin a bed and breakfest in a year and a half i'll be running it with my older sister and in the same time as buyin that my brother is gettin married i want my mom to look her best.. and be able to dance with my dad. Is there anything that me and my mom can do together I know if she has someone doing it with her it will be easier... and ontop of the walkin problems shes got horrible back pains.... Please some one help....

Hi and welcome here (: You didn't say how much your mom weighs, but going by what you said I'm assuming it's quite a bit and may make exercise a problem at this point? My suggestion would be to sit down with her and tell her that you are planning on losing some weight and that you'd really like it if she'd join you - and be honest with her about your concerns for her health. Don't be brutal or anything, but be honest.
Perhaps you could find a plan you could both do, WW or Atkins or any of the "biggies" out there? Planning meals together would be fun, I'd think (: AND planning rewards for losses, things you could do/share together would be pretty good incentive.

Your mother is lucky to have such a warm and caring daughter. I think you have some great advice so far, but it is important to remember that your mother has to decide that she wants to lose the weight. I went through the same thing when I was tring to get my mom to quit smoking. I kept begging her and getting onto her everytime she smoked but it never worked. She had to make the decision.(which she never did but that is another story.) Tell her you love her and that you are concerned about her health. As you start eating healthy and exercising maybe you will become an inspiration.
