No cooking this year. I told my husband that I didn't want to cook a turkey dinner with all the fixings just for us. (Plus this way I don't have to worry about eating all the left overs.) I would rather go something together with the family than spend the day in the kitchen. Instead we are having brunch at one of the clubs here on base. Christmas will be our big holiday.

What do you have planned to cook so far and I will get you some side dishes.

This weekend we plan on taking the kids to see spongebob square pants the movie. We also will be going to the annual Christmas parade here in Milwaukee. The kids will be able to see clowns, marching bands and even Santa:-) AS for Thanksgiving, we will be going to my parents home. Im alittle worried because they are very good cooks, however everything is soaked in butter and salt. Ive been doing so much better I just dont want to get a taste of the stuff and revert back to my old ways. ANy suggestions ladies?

All of our families live either in Washington or California. We still do the traditional dinner with all the fixings. We just scale it down a bit. I normally don't behave on Holidays. Thanksgiving will be fun. I won't feel guilty either(not). :-)Stephanie

Well, my MIL makes a total of 17 side dishes every year for Thanksgiving. Yes, 17! HOWEVER, just because she has them, doesn't mean we pig out on all 17. Its pick and choose. We all jsut take small spoonfuls of the ones we want....besides, you'd never be able to fit them all on your plate!

Don't let it make you sick!

Shawna, fried turkey is actually very good! And this is coming from a yankee lol. I used to work with a guy that was from Louisiana, and he kept raving about his fried turkey. I kept saying "yuck, why would you want to fry a turkey?" but then he made it one night, had a bunch of us together and it was delicious. I haven't had it since, but it's actually very good (of course not good for you, since it's fried).

Well then I guess it's a good thing you don't live in the US ;)
