Well, this year I have to go to this friend of mines place. What a pain! Her husband is going to sit hunched in front of World of Warcraft all day, probably not even joining us at the table for turkey! And this will ensure screaming from my friend which will make all of the rest of us very uncomfortable. And then there's her brother, who came up with the goofy idea of FRYING a TURKEY! Frying! Can you believe it? And get this bit of gossip... the brother is going to bring his girlfriend, who my friend calls her "fake sister-in-law"... fake?? How weird is that? And man, they have this dog that has no manners at all, always trying to lick and doesn't listen. At least their other dog is majorly cool.

So Shawna, where'd you come up with the example of the "SIL who brings a new man every year and shows up with another tattoo" ? (;

PS - before anyone gets up in arms, yes.. the above is a joke :P We're going to Shawna's for T-giving lol.

Sadly I have to go to my snl's... the Mrs Hyde of the family...There won't be any other people there because they are smarter than anyone else in the world and those peopole are jealous and won't come to her house.

If anyone else does attend you can bet it will be some type of social climber.

Fun day....:0(

Well, this year we're having it at my house with MY family, which is relatively tame. Nothing juicy going on there. But if we go to Jose's Aunt's house, which we have done for the last few years, I just sit there while everyone else talks to each other in Portuguese. I think it's so rude since they can all speak English and they know that I don't speak Portuguese. Every once in a while, they'll start slipping into English, and then just when I get into the conversation, they switch back to Portuguese! It's soooo frustrating. Plus, the food is never very good. They don't know how to time everything, so by the time we go to sit down almost everything is ice cold. They have Turkey and mashed potatoes like we do, but they do this stuffing that's just gross. They use linguisa (sp?) and all these weird spices. I like linguisa, but not in my stuffing! Oh, and they also have the traditional Thanksgiving Day octopus stew. YUCK! So I am so glad to have it at my house this year with my somewhat normal, English speaking family!

LOL, you're so funny, Yav! I didn't even realize until about halfway through that you were talking about Shawna! I was thinking, why is she going to this friend's house if she can't stand it so much. Then when I realized you were talking about Shawna, I knew you were kidding :)

Well let me see, we have to go to 2 houses this Thansgiving. The first being my mother in-law whom is crazy and I cant stand to be around for to long. My husband's whole family gives me a headache because they do not know the meaning of "inside voices". They must have skipped that part when they were in kindergarten. The food is nasty as hell and I try not to stay longer then an hour. Then we are off to my parents home. The food is wonderful however if your on a diet, they tend to want to push evenmore food onto your plate. My brothers and sisters will be there (all 7). My olderst brother will hae his bad kids with him. They will tear up the house and not pick up after themselves. They will whine and cry when they dont get what they want. My other brother will get upset over something little and start acting like a real jerk. Then everyone else will complain about their jobs and how much money they need. Sooooo, thats what I have to look forward to..lol

Linda, I had the same thing go on with my ex husband. He was Arabic and they always spoke in Arabic when I was there which was rare to begin with. They didn't think I understood them, while my ex husband was overseas for a few months, I decided to take a class.

Yeah well when they started talking badly I would chime in and answer them.

It always led to a war :)

My family was nuts my mom and aunt got into a fist fight out on the lawn one Thanksgiving. The oven broke at my aunts and we had to cook the turkey on the grill. ?!!? Nutso people. Trust me.

I am glad I am going somewhere else LOL

You forgot someone....the annoying, shop-a-holic, snorting, cat loving best friend coming to your dinner.
