Loose Skin After Weight Loss

Hi guys. New to the board. I have about 80 lbs to lose. I carry all my weight in my stomach. I'm a petite build and I look like I"m carrying twins! I'm kind of worried about having hanging loose skin in the stomach area. Can anyone tell me about your experiences if they've lost all your excess weight and if you carried your weight in the midsection too.

I haven't lost enough weight to have loose skin, yet....

But my sister lost 100+ pounds and she has loose skin off her behind slapping her back legs and her stomach is also very flabby. She has to wear a good pany girdle to keep it packed in.

We have had loose skin discussions here and I have talked to my sister about my concerns. She says that when she gets to her desired weight loss. She is going to have surgey which is the only way to get rid of it.

But get this....she is going to donate her skin to this place where they take skin to replace on burn victims. She says her doctor who preformed her gastric bypass surgery told her there is a place there in Houston who will do the surgery (don't remember which) either free or at a low cost for the donation of the skin!

Which is a good cause...if you have ever seen a burn victim you just can't do enough for them.

I think a lot of it has to do with age and how fast you lose the weight. I lost 100 pounds when I was 30 and everything went back into place. Seriously, I had no baggy skin and my stomach went flat. Now that I am 53 I don't see that happening. I am pretty flabby but go to curves and that should help. Also I am losing very slow. :-)Stephanie

Thanks for your repsonses. It was very helpful and encouraging. I am 29 years old. Plan on losing the weight very slowly. I take good care of my skin and keep it moisturized. I am half mexican and my dad who is mexican has no wrinkles at all and he is 57. So I'm hoping that will help. I still worry though because I do carry my weight in the middle and have stretch marks, although now that I have a tan they can't be seen at all!!

Hi, sorry my response is late, I was out of town (:

Losing the weight slowly and using a good moisturizer is definitely a great start, but don't forget your water and exercise. I too have stretch marks and loose skin and gain most of my weight in my tummy (although a lot of that is caused by having been pregnant twice) but unfortunately since I didn't take good care of my skin before, mine won't bounce back like hopefully yours will!
