I've been working really hard for about 2 years to lose a lot of weight. I'm down from a size 26/28 to an 18/20. My goal is to get back to an 8.

I take it this is a support board that doesn't advocate any particular diet? I tried South Beach for a bit, but I don't think it's great for people who need to lose a significant amount of weight. I'm diabetic, so following SB very loosly has helped me with my glucose numbers.

My big motivators are 1. I don't want to go on insulin, and my doctor thinks diet and exercise may do the trick. 2. I have a gorgeous horse that I want to show, but I refuse to put out all that money on new show clothes until I'm in the size I want to be in. 3. To be 100% honest, I'm vain, and I want to look better.

I'll probably lurk more than anything, but sometimes I do just jump in!

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Heya, and welcome here! (:

You're correct, this board is for losing weight in general. No plans are particularly followed, but many of our ladies are on WW, Atkins or SBD. Many of them are just doing portion control and/or cutting calories and trying to get into exercise. That type of thing (:

You'll find a lot of support here, and big congrats on your loss so far! As for being vain, well, aren't we all? Of course we'd rather be a size 6, 8, 10, even 12 instead of what we are... no matter how good people tell us we look at the size we're at now!

You might take a look at our Journals and Challenges section, see if you'd like to get in on one of the challenges we're doing from now until the end of the year. (And of course there'll be challenges after that, too!) Some of us also journal our food and exercise, so you might try that out if you think it would help you to be "accountable" to someone else (:
