add me to the group of falling and having a hard time getting going again. I think I may change my plan for christmas to maintaining rather than losing. Everything this time of year revolves around food and to be honest I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. I am not sure that I want to give up baking Christmas cookies with my kids and have a lo-cal, healthy Christmas Eve party. Is that bad of me?

Hang in there guys. As long as you don't give up and walk away you are doing good. sharla

Shawna please know you are not alone. I have been off track for about as long as you have. I have gained 15 pounds and am trying so hard not to gain anymore!! Then I gorge myself on chocolate. How can one be in such control for so long and then just lose it!! We all know how good it feels mentally and physically when losing weight. Why isn't that incentive enough? You would think it would be. Hang in there, all of us who are having a difficult time getting our control back will get it again. Hopefully before we cause too much damage. :-)Stephanie 280/240/170

I think you're right. A lot of people have mood changes that are linked to behaviour changes at this time of the year. Andre showed me an article about S.A.D (Seasonal affective disorder) and even though it would take 2 consecutive seasons with many of the symptoms in order to be diagnosed with this type of depression, many people have symptoms of it at this time of the year. Andre does, and one of the most disappointing symptoms that he has is lowered libido. It really sucks!!! Light therapy is something they recommend for symptoms of S.A.D, but light boxes can be very costly. One thing you could do is take advantage of any sunlight, even if it's on a cold day it can still do you good. Enjoy the fresh air on a day when the sun is out, if that is possible! Or possibly take extra vitamins.
I hope you all find the motivation you need to stick to your diet and exercise! I've had to fight for mine in the last couple weeks at times, but it sure is worth it to see the results on the scale and the way your clothes fit!! ~Sabrina

I'm still hitting the gym and eating right. In fact, after I had my body fat % checked Friday, I felt really motivated and bought some whey protein so I can lower my calories a little and maybe lose a little faster.

I haven't had a lot of time for the computer, mostly because of the extra time I have been spending at the gym and trying to cram a month's worth of work into 3 weeks both Nov and Dec so I can enjoy some time off.

Oh Shawna...I should have come here sooner before I slipped so far I almost didn't come out.

The past few weeks have been complete turmoil for me emotionally and physically so I've been very anti-social...shutting myself into my little world. Big mistake!

But yesterday was the lowest - I baked dozens of cookies for a little fundraiser we do at work for a needy family and I ate so many of them I was ill. It was awful.

However, when I went to bed last night with my hot water bottle pressed to my belly I swore I would get back on track. So despite it being -15 degrees and snowing I got up this morning, hauled on my long underwear, sweats, parka, hat and mitts and trudged out for a 50 minute hike along the pathways of Calgary (which by the way, weren't shovelled which is always an interesting way to find new muscles).

I know I should have come back to the site earlier as you ladies always seem to help me get back on track without you even realizing it.

I'M BACK.

Cheers
Lisa
