Hi all,

I haven't read much on this board, because I really didn't think I'd ever need to lose 100 lbs, but I do. This morning I got on the scale for the first time in about 8 months and discovered that I weigh 243 lbs.

I've had a weight problem my entire life, and have tried every diet in the book. When I was a kid my mom sent me to weight watchers with the neighbor's grandmother. When I was in High School she sent me to NutriSystem. In college, I gained another 30 lbs. Then after college, I was severely depressed and lost 40 lbs. I then lost another 15 on Atkins.

Then in the past 2 years, I put on 60 lbs. I quit smoking in that time, so my doctor thinks that contributed. But I'm a 28 year old single woman and feel like I have nowhere to turn for help, so I came here.

Any advice or inspiration would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jen

Hey Jen! Welcome to the board! I totally understand what you're going through (we all do). I, too, am 28, single, and have struggled all my life with my weight. I always knew I was heavy, but it didn't really sink in how bad the problem was until my size 24s didn't fit any more. Around that same time, I saw an old friend that I hadn't seen for about 2 years and she'd lost about 80 lbs and I couldn't even recognize her anymore!! I couldn't believe what a difference the weight loss would make. That was my wake up call. In the 8 weeks since then, I've given up sodas and sugary drinks (only drink water and unsweetened tea now), cut my calorie intake by more than half and have started working out at the gym twice a week. And so far, I've lost 26 lbs, which I'm thrilled with. Still have a long way to go, but I'll get there eventually. You might want to check out fitday.com, it's a great website with a lot of tools to help you keep track of your caloric intake everyday. Feel free to e-mail me if you want to be diet buddies or something! Bye for now,
