I have a question for you guys.

Do any of the single women here or the married ones for that matter find it hard to go on a "date"? Typically when people go out they go to dinner or for cocktails.

Well I was in this position last night. A friend of mine here wanted to go out, he suggested a movie I was fine with that because I got through the gym, I had an apple and headed out the door I figured I would eat when I got home so I knew I would stay within my points range.

He changed plans since he was running a little late, we met and than met up with some of his friends for a cocktail and something to eat. I panic when these things happen. I have no idea what to eat, obviously I could have a salad but on a day like yesterday where I had few points for dinner I didn't know how to count anything. I opted not to eat and just have an iced tea, since some people were just having drinks as well.

It is very confusing to me how to balance going out and having a good time and feeling "normal" around the holidays where you are getting together more often to have a drink or something to nibble on.

I suppose because I have been taking this so seriously it is very hard for me to get out of that mode because I have come this far, I don't want anything to get in the way of my goal.

But at the same time, some people want you to get out there and eat and enjoy it like they are. My friend was here from Atlanta and he kept saying it is a special ocassion which it was, but I was having a salad. It was a good one, but still there were tons of other things I would have liked to have.

For me it only takes one screw up and I am back into my old ways. I allow myself my once a week splurge one meal and that is it, other than that I try not to waiver.

Does anyone else find this difficult?

i would think its all about balance and moderation ... eat, but eat healthy ... not having any fun is no kind of life ... weight loss or not ... what about when you lose all your weight? you are still gonna hafta keep it off ... i think weight loss should be more about developing healthy habits instead of denying yourself ... think of it more like that and you'll have alot more fun :)

Well considering I haven't been on a real date where I have watched what I'm eating in forever, I don't know what to tell you.

Fat or skinny, whenever I go on a date, I get nervous and tend not to eat a lot anyway, which makes me feel guilty for getting someone to pay for something I hardly touch.

Hey jodi...

I SO know exactly what you're talking about. Last night I went to an art opening, and all my friends were having dinner at a restaurant beforehand. Earlier in the day, I checked out the place and there was really NOTHING that is healthy there to eat (no salads!!), so I had to make a big excuse and meet them after the dinner and just order a diet coke. Needless to say, this SUCKED but at least I ate my planned healthy meal.

My boyfriend also surprises me a lot with dinners or taking me out for a coffee. He is Italian and really likes to enjoy his food!! So I have emergency plans where I take control... okay, you wanna go for coffee? we can go here and you can buy me a decaf skim latte w. splenda, and he orders it for me so I don't even have to go to the counter and realize I would raaaather have a brownie and a frappuchino. Or I have picked certain restaurants I can still order healthy things, so if he wants to take me out, he hasta take me there... and he knows the drill by now so if I start to waver he just orders for me.

these things work MOST of the time ;) and I have not had such a hard time w/ eating out. In the end, we have a nice treat and spend some quality time together on our dates and that's what is so great anyway.

you probably are looking GREAT so just have some FUN you deserve to enjoy nights out but also treat your body well...
