I know people have different views on weight loss surgery, but I was just wondering if anyone has done it or is considering it?

There are several people at work who have done it. All have lost a substantial amount of weight and look great. One had major problems, but said it has been worth it to be thin. I asked her what her work out routine was and she said "honey If I could get myself to workout in the first place I would not have needed sugery...I dont work out at all". She thought that being able to loose the weight without working out was a blessing.

I have thought about it but just cant consider it until I really devote myself to natural weight loss efforts, as far as I know nothing medically is keeping me from loosing weight. My inability to loose weight is due to my eating habits and lack of excersice. I also cant stand the thought of not being able to eat the things I love because I might get sick...I am fat because I eat too much of these things on a constant basis.

I thought about it for about 30 seconds. But the risks just aren't worth it to me. Yeah, I'd love to be thin again practically over night, but I'd rather be alive and fat than a skinny corpse.

There's a lot about losing weight that I'm actually enjoying. I love to cook, and discovering healthy recipes has been a blast. I love how I feel when I exercise, so I'm getting motivated to do more of it. I actually crave water these days.

It is the lap band procedure that I am considering, not the whole gastric bypass surgery.

It is a very personal, individual decision. It just doesn't feel right for me. Then again, I won't even have lasix. I'm a surgery wuss. LOL

I have never thought about doing it for myself but I know someone who had it done and she has lost 180 pounds.

My aunt has had the band put on and lost over 60 pounds. A guy from my church also had the band on and has lost over 90 pounds. It's not for me, even at my weight. I'm going through this with God and don't feel led to anything else. But I sure don't go against people's decisions to have it done. I think it's very individual decision and also I and totally pro surgery if a person's life is in danger. Kristi :o) <><

My sister had the gastric by pass surgry one year ago last February...and she has lost over 100 pounds. She is very happy and would do it again if she had too.

She said the only draw back is that she gets full very fast...and you know a lot of us are fat because we love food...the smell....the texture...the presentation...and of course the taste...So what the problem is, is that she can't eat as much as she would like. Also, she can't have a beverage with her meals because she will fill up very fast.

I'd like to have it done also but I have a cheap a_ _ insurance company who says the procedure is cosmetic...never mind I have to take an array of meds each day costing them thousands of dollars five years from now....(sorry for the vent)

Course...if the good Lord wanted me to have it done that way...it would have happened. So I am doing it this way....

Oh I have to have my gall badder out too....I was hoping while they are in there why not just fix the stomach at the same time!

I had Gastric Bypass surgery, on July 3, 2003. I have lost 104 lbs. I am 31 years old and have always struggled with weight and food addiction. Yes, it is hard to beat food addiction, even with surgery, but I have really been able to control it. It is like any addiction though, it is always there.

I am so happy with the results I have had. I have never thrown up, even once, and I can eat anything I want to, as long as its in a small amount. I wouldn't change my decision for even one second. The fact that I don't have to shop in the plus size stores any more is so great. I can walk, or run, up a flight of stairs and still be able to breathe. I have actually started running for the first time in my life.

I literally feel like a new person. I have so much more confidence and I am always smiling.

It is a really personal decision, and I would never tell anyone to do it, or not to do it, but would always be there to support someone who is going through the decision making process. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make. Once I did make the decision to do it, I sat down with every single person who is important to me in my life and told them what I was doing, why I was doing it, and educated them on the surgery...there are so many misconceptions out there, its amazing. That really helped because then people didn't have the chance to judge me, and anyone who wasn't supportive of my decision didn't get to be my friend anymore. I actually stopped talking to one person for a while, although, now she has come to grips with it and we are friends again.

Anyway....everyday I have been so thankful that I was able to get this life saving, and life changing surgery. I still have a lot of work to do on myself, but I have confidence in myself now that I can accomplish anything.

Good Luck to all who are considering this.....Krissy
