Hi everyone,
I am 28, single, live in Texas. I am new to this group, but definately not new to the weightloss battle. I haven't been "skinny" since I hit puberty. But, my real weight problem began my junior year of high school (which was about 12 years ago). I gained almost 100 lbs by graduation. Then my first year of college I lost 85 lbs by having to walk to all my classes, and being too busy to eat all the time.
Then in 98, 99, 00....all h*ll broke loose in my life...my fiance got sick, and then passed away from lymphoma....my father was killed in an accident at work....I was assaulted and raped....everything just fell apart. I've spent many of the past few years trying to take care of my family...and trying to keep myself from completely falling apart. I pulled away from all my friends, and have used food as my only comfort and companion.
I am doing better now, and am trying to get back out there and meet new people...and my family is doing a lot better now. It is still hard though, and I still fight depression. I am a little over 100 lbs overweight. I am 5'6", and am 257 lbs. I have several medical issues that could be greatly improved by losing some weight and getting in better shape (sleep apnea, PCOS, high tryglicerides, borderline high blood sugar-insulin resistance, sinus/allergies, brochial asthma). So...I really really need to get my butt in gear, and do something to get moving. I joined Curves almost a year ago...but out of the year...I've probably only been able to use it 2-3 months...due to health problems, time, and location. I want to start walking at home, outside, treadmill, etc. And go from there.
Any help, advice, suggestions, support, would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to getting to know all of you.
Thanks,
MsGreenEyes

You have such adorable kids!! I'm jealous of the red/auburn hair! :)
LOL, thanks, but they actually have blond/light brown hair.
Hey MsGreenEyes,
You've been through a lot. I'm so glad things are getting better, and I hope they continue to do so. You can totally lose weight and gain health. I have 120 pounds to lose and I'm brand new here too. Hopefully we can encourage each other on our ways.
Peace,
C
Pickle Puss & Corrina,
Thank you for the welcome! I'm looking forward to being in this group. I got out my pedometer today, and I've also got several of the Leslie Sansone Walking Tapes in my que (Blockbuster.com - use it instead of cable), the first of which should be here Saturday. I just need to go get some new shoes. My walking/exercise shoes have about had it. I've also been doing better the last few days on cutting back on the sodas (still having one Dr.Pepper in the morning...since I don't drink coffee or tea). I have veggies (eggplant, zucchini, yellow squash, tomatoes) on the grill right now, and had soup for lunch today. So...it's a start anyway! :)
Thanks

Hey GreenEyes!
Welcome to the group...It sounds like you will fit right in with the rest of us. I need to go to the store and get some walking tennis shoes....since I don't use tennies much I thought I'd get a pair at Wal-mart. Fixing to go to the store in a few minutes....I hate going when there are tons of people there.
Welcome aboard. Hope to see you post many times.
PS. I can speak Spanish....if you need some help.....
