Weight gain & end of "." related?

LOL... so let me tell you about me. A little over two years ago, I started taking my birth control pills continuously (I didn't stop at the sugar pills, skipped them entirely and kept on taking the dosed pills) not because of a fear of pregnancy, but because I didn't want to have my period! I knew full well I should allow a period 3-4 times a year, but I didn't. Every time I saw my doc, he'd lecture me (in a good-humored way) and in fact this last time, I even wrote on my notes "have a period" and he laughed at me writing a prescription for myself.

Anyway, so I took my sugar pills and ended up with a very light period, for the first time in over 2 years. Well, while I was up at Shawna's, we pigged OUT. Had steaks and snacks and cappuccino's and sodas and god knows what else... I lost a pound!!!

The only thing I could come up with is... when estrogen production (and whatever else goes on) stops - i.e. peri- / menopause... do you gain weight? Because I was basically in a fake menopause for 2 years. My doc even tested my blood to make sure I hadn't put myself into a premature menopause, obviously I haven't. But I should have gained at least a couple pounds while up north. I lost at least a pound. I mean come on now, not only did I seriously carb up and eat mass quantities of fat, I was (am) on my period!

So... what do you know? I could go google this, but figured I'd ask the experts first (;

I've always had exactly the opposite experience.
