At odds with my Goals...

Okay, so I'm doing great with my weight loss. I started Monday of last week with a weight of 304.5, that I had actually taken a few days before. Weds mornings weight was 301. I set myself up a goal of 2 pounds per week weight loss, putting my goal for 1/30/05 at 296. Well, guess what I weighed this morning?! 296.5!

I weigh myself daily and take the average weight for the week, so my official weight is 298.83. My goal for this week was to average out to 302. The question here is, should I adjust my goals? Should I make them lower since I am almost 2 weeks ahead of schedule?

The other big thing is my concern that I am losing weight too fast. I don't feel like I'm hurting myself. I am eating, a fist size portion of food every 2-3 hours, but I'm not eating right. I just want to cut down the portions for now, then worry about what's in them. I am working on making sure I include fruit and veggies every day...

Well, hopefully by now you get the picture. What do you think?

Congrats with your weightloss. It sounds like you are doing a great job. I agree with Shawna. It is very common to lose a lot of weight the first week or two you are dieting. Then it starts to even out at about 2 or 3 pounds per week. It really depends on the person. I used to be able to lose 3-4 pounds a week, but now I have to really push myself to get 1-2. As far as your goals I would keep it at 2 pounds a week. Think of it as a happy surprise if you do better. sharla

Well...my not eating right is the fact that I'm probably getting 1200 calories a day, but about half are from Dr. Pepper. I'm trying to get in fruits and veggies, but I'm not so successful every day. It's just, well, take a look at my journals and you'll see what I mean...

Thankyou that helps me, Its a great site, and it something for me to work on my food, so I can meet my requirements for nutrition.
So far I am doing good, I can't weigh in untill Friday, Thats when I go see the doctor. I am going to try real hard this week on my eating. I have notice I have more room in my shirts especially around the stomeche area. I am pleased with my progress so far. I love coming to the board, I have read lots of advice, and I have been using them.
Thankyou to all, and Have a great Day

Hi Andrea

I agree, you need to get more food in as well.

I like the idea of eating several times a day smaller meals. However you need more substance in your meals.

If you are aiming for a 1200 calorie diet than you have lots of options in front of you, there are several things you could be enjoying without depriving your body of what it needs.

You will loose weight quickly the first few weeks. Which is a great motivator. Keep in mind that your body needs certain things to loose weight. If if feels you are starving it or depriving it will hang on to whatever it has, not a good thing.

Feel free to e-mail me if you want :) Cutiewithouthalo@aol.com

Take care and congrats on the loss!

Somehow I missed this thread yesterday, so all I can say now is I agree with everyone else.

I also know how tough it is to give up the soda - just ask Shawna about my near panic attacks at the thought of giving them up! You can still have your soda if you must, but you could look into the "baby sodas" - the 8oz size cans that are out these days. When I was doing WW, I had one of those a day, with my dinner. The rest was water and the occassional juice or cappuccino. Right now, I'm not back down to my baby sodas, but I have them in the house and I'm slowly weaning myself down from... well, loads of 12 oz cans a day lol. I'm down to about 2 - 2 1/2 cans per day now.

The other alternative is diet sodas, which I personally won't drink, but many people find them acceptable. If you don't like the thought of the aspartame in the name brand sodas, you could look into the off-brands (walgreens, diet rite, etc) which use Splenda/sucralose. Splenda is slightly more acceptable to me because it's made from real sugar, but I personally don't like the taste. YMMV.
