Back from funeral/reality check.

For anyone who remembers this newbie (I'd just "joined" then disappeared because I had to attend a funeral out of town), I'm back. It was good, I guess, as far as funerals go... and I'm especially glad I could be there for my friend. It was also a total reality check. The WONDERFUL woman who died was one of those people who gave to others constantly, never expecting anything back and who never took time/stood up for her own needs. The first part is a great personality trait... the second is heart-breaking because it took her from the world too soon. She had Type 2 diabetes that she never even really tried to control, her eye sight was disappearing and it was doing a job on her heart (She needed a double bypass but she never got to the table...) She was always planning to start doing something, usually a crazy diet, TOMORROW. I don't blame her a bit... She's just like me. (Or was) But I (AND ALL OF US HERE) have time on our side, while we're alive, we can change. I'm young and as of yet, really healthy. I'm going to lose the excess and get my heart and muscles working to their best.
It's exciting to be back and to read the good things everyone is doing for themselves. Let 2005 be our year!

I am sorry about your friend, but maybe some good can come from it if it inspires you to become more healthy. Did she leave behind a family?

Thanks Sharla and Shawna...
I think I was a bit misleading... It was my bestfriend's MOM who passed away, so she was older (not old though). She was a wonderful lady (took me in when I was a teen w/troubles) and would be very happy if people around her would celebrate her life by getting healthier.

That is an awesome way to look at it and your honoring her life by straightening out your own.
