Do you think 1500 calories is too much? I weigh 226 right now, i dont know if that makes a difference. I was trying to eat 1200 or less but i was so hungry. Tonight after dinner, i had a couple extra snacks because i was so hungry. It brought my daily calorie intake up to 1494 after dinner. I am still hungry, and its only 5:30! I am trying my hardest not to eat anything else, but im really hungry!

Any suggestions?

First of all, depending on where you were before, you may not want to cut that many calories all at once. Also, have salads until the cow comes home (vinegar dressing only), they will add minimal calories and solve hunger problems...

I think 1500 is to low, actually, but I'd suggest you talk to your doctor about it.

I compared your weight to the WW points system and according to it, you can eat 1200-1550 calories each day but 1550 is on the high end.

Thanks Ladies :)

I am exercising about 3 days a week, 30 minutes each. I binged last night big time, i think it just wasnt enough food for me. I am used to eating so much, like based on what ive recorded the past few weeks, on an average day i probably consumed between 3000-4000 calories a day. So going cold turkey like that was too hard! I am going to try to aim for 1500, but maybe go

Hi Jenn:

If I were eating 1200-1400 cal. a day I would be STARVING!!! I have found that if I stay in the 1500-1700 range and get some regular exercise I will lose weight at a slow and reasonably steady rate and at the same time not feel too deprived. Some days I go a little over and some a little over, but I try to stay in this range. I have lost 50 lbs this way in the past. I think as my weight goes down, I may have to re-adjust my range down a little, but at 200+ lbs. we need more cal. just to move around !:).

I'm not low carbing, but I have found that eating a little more protien and healthy fat helps alot to keep hunger at bay.

Keep up the good work!

I have something that might help. I have been on a diet for two weeks and have lost 4 pounds. I walk every day for thirty minutes. I drink water every day. At least 6 eight ounce glasses. I have up to 2000 calories a day and up to 30 grams of fat. I am like you in that I sometimes suffer with a hunger problem. So far, I am losing weight at a steady rate. So far, my problem is not hunger or boredom, but wondering if I am losing enough. Supposedly, one or two pounds a week is good and healthy. When I shop, I look for things that will satisfy my appetite and create less time in the kitchen. I might marathon cook one night of the week with soups and casseroles. I then freeze them in containers. This way, I am not always thinking about food aka food preparation. When I eat it is satisfying and tastes good and requires little hassle. I look for things to accent the flavor as a side item like cherry peppers. I also look for things that are fun foods that are low such as light chips that are fat free or pretzels that are fat free or salsa that is fat free. It is amazing how much of it you can have. I stay away from frozen foods because they are high in fat and calorie for the smallest portions. I think if you increae your calories a few hundred, you may be ok. I think you might be ok if you exercise a couple more days a week.

Thanks a lot for all your help! I think the reason I th ought 1200 was because that was how I lost weight 4 yrs ago, but i was also 150 lbs, and i didnt really take that or my exercising into consideration. Its good to know that
