Not sure this week

Morning all.

I am frustrated. The scale is showing a loss for me so far this week, but I keep fighting this one #. From yesterday I am up a # here on the scale at work. Ugh. I worked out, against my better judgement. I was so damn tired and I am having major stress in my personal life, it was 1 degree here and all I wanted to do was go home and get in my PJ's last night. Yet I took my chubby butt to the gym. Yea me.

This past weekend I cheated a little at my b-day party. I had one shot that I didn't account for and one forkful of a dessert I would have normally plowed through. I felt soooooooooo guilty for just having that one bite.

Over the past two weeks I have only lost 3 #s. The previous two weeks I had lost a total of 10. I have no idea what is going on with my body.

I know I have been working as hard as I can at the gym. I am working a 13 hour day at work and an hour or two is all I can manage these days at the gym. I told myself when I lost 100#s I would take a week off from working out, and I haven't even done that. I pushed it back to when I loose 120#s. Ugh. 17 more #s to go till my "vacation".

I know we can do this sometimes I just need a kick in the butt too.

Hang in there girls and keep warm!

You're just stressed out....relax a little....you are still doing a great job at losing weight...so give yourself a little slack.

Jodi:

First of all, remember you have done an AMAZING job! You have gone where few women have gone before. I know it is hard to accept, but the more weight you lose, the harder it gets to lose more. Just maintaining is a MAJOR accomplishment! So you cheated at your birthday party, SO WHAT... What's life for if you can't enjoy it?

So, take a deep breath... You have lost 3 lbs in the last 2 weeks and 10 in the 2 weeks before. That's 13 lbs in a month! Maybe your weight loss is slowing down, but you ARE still losing. Keep plugging away and it WILL happen, but it probably won't happen as quickly as you would like.

Maybe you should take your vacation now. You don't have to be a total slug, but take a break from the gym. Take some long walks outdoors and recharge your engines. While you're walking you can think about new ways to jazz up your workouts and can also relish the feel of your new body. I bet walking is alot more pleasurable than it was 100 #'s ago.

Thank you Rae

Yes it is a lot easier and a lot less torture on my body.

I was "talking" with some other gymrats on one of the other boards here and they said to decrease some of my cardio and increase some weight training, give myself two days a week with the weights and the bike for example and lay off the running for those two days. I think that will help so much. My body is just tired.

So I am going to give it a shot, and take one more day off a week.

This is a tough journey. Sometimes I think I just should ahve been happy at the weight I was, but I know I wasn't and I know that I am a lot healthier now. :)

Thanks for letting me vent.

Jodi,

It sounds like you've already gotten some great advice, so I'm going to say, "I can't wait until I'm at the point you're at!!" I know in your situation (and I will be the same when I get there) that it's frustrating to slow weight loss, especially the nearer you get to your goal. Just keep in mind that what you're doing is making yourself healthier, the weight loss will follow.

Hang in there Jodi.

By looking at your numbers, it is obvious you have been working very hard. I am new here so I don't know your story, but when did you start your journey? Have you hit many plateaus? What are you eating...are you following a particular plan or just making healthier choices? What type of workouts are you doing? Sorry for the 20 questions. Your numbers are so inspiring to me. Your start weight is similair to mine and I honestly cannot fathom getting below 200 pounds. I have not been in over 8 years although I have come close a few times.

Keep up the great work...hate to add some pressure, but I am counting on you. :)

No problemo for the 20 questions. The scale broke loose a little bit here at work and the one at home shows a loss as well for this week we will soon find out, I have weigh in at 6pm. The scale here says 4.5#s gone this week LOL I doubt its right but it was nice to see.

I am on Weight Watchers. I do the Flexpoints plan. It has been sucessful for me. I started my jouney on April 15th of 2004 and it has been a hike that is for sure. I have not hit many plateaus, I have had two gains in 10 months. Both were half # gains. Than it shook loose the following week.

I think a few things that have helped me are I work out 6 days per week, I am relentless at the gym. I usually run/walk a hill program for at least 45 mins. Doing interval training. Running for a few minutes and than walking. It helps speed up your heartrate and than give you time to recover. Than I am off to the elliptical, and abs.

Also I have drilled Shawna and others on the WW board for ideas. I find the support here has been great, it's a great place to vent and share ideas.

One thing to keep in mind that I always tend to forget if you are eating the same things over and over again even if they are healthy your body will get used to it. The same goes for workouts, so I try to change my workouts every 4 weeks and try and incorporate new foods as often as possible.

You will get there! I know you can do it. I was and still am the Queen of Excuses. You just have to keep yourself going. I want my goal SO bad that I have really tried to stay focused. It is not easy many days I just don't feel like going to the gym, but I go, I know for me I have to.

Feel free to e-mail anytime if I can help.

I was fretting getting under two hundred #s as well. When I hit it I was sooooo excited. Than when I got my 100# loss was great too. Now I want to get to 175 and than to goal!

Small baby goals are the way to go. Here is to a long but healthier road!

Thanks for the reply Jodi.
I am impressed with your workout schedule. I have started out at the gym about every other day (though this week has been a struggle) but I am only doing about 40 min cardio then a weight circuit. I would love to do the interval training on the treadmill. I used to jog back in the day (before kids) but am fearful that I may injure myself at this weight. Did you start out slowly or were you gung ho from the start in terms of your workouts?

K ~

I tried to work myself up to cetain things. I started out doing at least 45 mins fo cardio but most of it was walking at that time, than moved to the elliptical. Than just started varying it quite a bit.

I try to change my workout in some capacity at least every four weeks. So my body doesn't have time to get used to it.

That way my metabolisim keeps up with me. Or I hope LOL.

I am still pretty hefty to run, I think but you have to start slowly, just work yourself up to it slowly, maybe when you are walking, try running the very last minute you are on your program. Than put that minute in the middle somewhere, the next week add one more if you can.

I am sure you will get back into it. :)
