Dieting Wisdom

Tue, 01-18-2005 - 7:00pm

We have a lot of newbies coming in since the new year, and quite a few oldbies who are also coming back, so I thought we could start a wisdom thread. Just post what you've learned, or quotes, whatever comes to mind that helps YOU and that you think will help someone else.

I'll start:

Take baby steps!

One day at a time! Or, one meal at a time (:

Don't compare yourself to models/celebs. Your idea weight may be different from others depending on your body type. 160 for some might be huge and on others be a dream weight.

Be prepared with healthy food for high stress/hunger situations. For example have little bags of fruit and veggis prepared for those moments you have to eat something NOW!!!!

If you eat some protein with your carbs it will help with hunger. For Example some cheese with your apple.(MY dh thinks I am so wierd when I do that)

Expect a stall. They are very normal. If it does happen change what you are doing like how you exercise just to mix your body up. Most important is to keep going. If you are doing everything right you will push through it and start losing again.

Make one change at a time. For example, I stopped drinking soda. It was hard at first but after a few days, the craving is gone. Now I am working on not eating after dinner. Dawn

Set small, realistic goals... you might end up pleasantly surprised when you surpass them, instead of being disappointed when you don't reach lofty ones!
