Hello Everyone,
This is my last full fleged attempt at working on safe and healthy weightloss before I seriously consider bariatric surgery. I've reached my all time heaviest weight of 297lbs and I'm sick and tired of being fat. Overall I'm an optimistic and fun loving woman. I want to reclaim control over my health. I long to do the things others take for granted, such as going ice skating, skiing, hiking or even fitting comfortably in a booth at a resturant.
I have systemic Lupus and know that my obesity is playing a huge part in keeping my disease from reaching full remission.
Today was a tough day for me. I sat in my car at the McDonalds drive through and orderd two breakfast sandwhiches and two hash browns and ate it all! It's not that I was famished, it was that I simply wanted all that food. It's time to change, grow and take control of my over eating and emotional eating.
I hope that with the support of friends, my wonderful boyfriend, and a nutritionist that I can take control of my life.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

Welcome Melanie:
I know how you feel. I can relate to overeating just because you want it. Bin there, done that. Overeating must release some pleasurable endorphins, or else we wouldn't do it. You've got the right attitude tho, in that you recognize the problem and are doing what it takes to conquer it. I can tell you that after a few weeks of eating good tasting, healthy food that McDonalds won't even look good anymore!
Best Wishes,
Rae

Girl, I am right here with you. I could have written that letter you just posted myself. To be truthful, I am guessing there are some others here that feel the same way!
I probably have around the same amount to lose as you and would love to take this journey with you. I too have emotional eating problems that I believe started when I was a kid but have manifested themselves into a really big problem. I have been avoiding drive thrus for a while now and making all of my meals at home. It is helping. I also did a search and looked up all of my favorite drive-thru food and wrote the nutritional facts down on index cards and keep them with me to remind myself of just how bad it is. It is really scary to see the fat and calories staring up at you. :::shuddering:::::
I am sorry you have the added issue with Lupus but I do imagine you taking these steps will help to get the disease in better control. I hope we can be here for each other...I am up for it if you are!

Hi and welcome here, Melanie. I so hear you... my downfall has been crappy carby snacks like Doritos, pretzels, Munchies... I'd eat them not because I was hungry or watching a movie or whatever, but because I wanted to. And I'd go through a whole bag of Munchies at a sitting. This time around, I somehow changed all that. Well, I stopped buying that stuff for one thing! I decided it's ok to snack for no reason as long as it's a good snack so I've been eating a lot of fruit these days.
You can take control of your life (:

Welcome Melanie!
We know you can do this!!!!!
I used to be the same way, ordering two meals at a fast food place and downing it all. It is very hard to adjust to a new lifestyle.
You have a great b/f you said, we are here for you and I read your profile and you are a little wiser ;) Happy Belated Birthday, mine was the 14th.
This is a tough road, but you came to a great place. Lots of wonderful support and great ideas!!!!
