I need to lose about 125 pounds... I am 45 and weigh 275. I have been thinking about this a lot, but need to get motivated and do it. This board interested me because I'd like a community of people who also have to lose a lot. And, I'd love to hear that it is possible!!
Anyway, do people on this board following one diet? I see food and exercise journal entries -- are those from a certain diet or plan? I am looking at nutricise.com -- has anyone used that? I'd like an online place where I can customize the diet around food I like. I have done Weight Watchers in the past and have also thought about joining their online program, but nutricise sounded a bit more personalized.
I started keeping a food diary yesterday. I haven't made any changes yet. I used to be a professional dancer (long, long time and 175 pounds ago) so I ordered the NYC ballet workout and my husband is making me a ballet barre. But, I haven't started anything yet. (I don't want to go to dance classes until I lose some weight because the dancers are too skinny and I 'd have trouble keeping up at first.)
This is going to sound really weird given how heavy I am now, but I was borderline anorexic for years when I was dancing. I was really, really good at dieting, but it was a really destructive lifestyle. I have been afraid to diet because of that, but, obviously I need to do something. My other challenge is that I have fibromyalgia, so I need to phase exercise in slowly. But, I think if I can get through the initial pain, I will feel better.
I quit smoking for 10+ years, but started again last year, so I have to deal with that, too.
Sorry this post is so long. Any tips on how to get started would be appreciated! I'm new to ivillage, so I'll be learning how all this works.

(((((Lynn))))), welcome!
