Hi all--
I put this same message up on the Support Buddies board. I hope that's okay.
So. My best friend just had a baby (debroxx in the January expecting boards) this past Saturday, and my sister-in-law is due in five weeks with my nephew, and I am afraid that if I don't get this weight off I will never get to have a baby myself. It seems I am surrounded by babies and pregnant women and I am alone and barren and blah blah blah. Plus there's all that heart disease and colon cancer in my family. Sigh. My dad has had two angioplasties and now has four stents. He's lost about fifty pounds since his surgery. I have battled my weight all my life, but I gained nearly 100 pounds ten years ago during a very bad, very short first marriage that I probably would have forgotten ever happened did I not have all this excess weight as a memento.
I am ready to get this off. I need a buddy who has BTDT or is going through the same thing. Any takers? I'm nice, and I've never bitten anything that could bite back. :-)

Hi, (((((Lori))))), and welcome!
Welcome! This is a great place for support....I agree with (was it Shawna) you can get plenty of support here at this board.
Good Luck and tell us what diet you are following....

(((((Lori))))), I'm right there with you.
Lady Irish....I always thought California was a bit like Texas. You have to drive everywhere!
There may be lots of WW classes in the Houston area but they are far apart...I can almost guarentee it! But sometimes you have to do what you have to do. So Lori I hope you do join WW if you haven't already and find a great leader because that is VERY IMPORTANT.

Welcome to the board Lori - I think you'll find an amazing group of women here ready and willing to help with a kind word of encouragement.
I can understand your issues with your job. For two years I worked with a manager who bullied me every day and I was miserable...to the point of crying every night. The whole situation made me ill both emotionally and physically. Before starting the job I had lost 35 lbs (I've always been a 'healthy' girl) but by the end I gained that back plus another 10.
Like you I made the decision to get out. Of course it meant a reduction in pay but what a difference it made in my life. I'm now back to the weight I was before I started the other job...kind of like a new start. Naturally I have another 40 lbs to go but I'm sure I'll get there.
By the way, I was just in Austin for work and I loved it! What a fantastic place! I'm sure good things will happen for you. Just hang on and drop by when you need to vent or share in you success.
Cheers
Lisa
