Hi everyone my name is Melinda. I am currently at 249 lbs down from 265. My goal weight is 150 so I still have about 99 lbs to go. I started my weight loss in July and have only lost 16 lbs - I got kind of lazy after the first month when I lost 13 lbs. For some reason I got it in my head it was OK to still eat what you wanted when you wanted as long as you still worked out - I was wrong.

Currently I am going to Curves 3 times a week and my Dh and I just bought an eliptical trainer that I use everyday. I have gotten back to eating better and I actually feel a lot better than before. My problem now is that I feel like I am becoming somewhat obsessed. I find my self looking to see how many calories I have eaten and then I try to work them all off - sometimes I am working out 2 or 3 times a day to burn off whatever I may have eaten and I weigh myself each day to make sure I haven't gained a pound. I am not on any special diet other than cutting the fat and calories and not eating fast food.

I apologize for my message being so long. I look forward to cheering everyone on towards their goal!

Welcome melinda and congrats on your weight loss so far. It sounds like you are doing great. I really want an eliptical trainer, but we just don't have the room. Are you really enjoying yours? Keep up the good work. sharla

Welcome here, Melinda (: Sounds like you're definitely on the right track. I wouldn't worry overmuch about the exercising - it's somewhat normal to obsess about stuff when you're getting started, and it doesn't hurt to burn the calories! If you're getting too sore or start to feel twinges though, maybe cut down. You don't want to injure yourself! Most likely, the urge to burn it all off will fade and you'll settle into a routine of once a day elliptical.

Just keep in mind that 1-3 lbs per week is healthy. More than that isn't good unless you know for sure it's water weight which should all come off in the first couple of weeks. We're not on a weight-loss "reality" show here (;

Hey Melinda and Welcome!

I am also new to the board. I just started Atkins on Monday. I have about 120 pounds to loose. I think we all get alittle over zealous when we start something new. Just keep up the good work and everything will fall into place. The biggest factor will be support and this board is great!
