Hi Im Melysa. I just found this board. I have been fat all my life. Well when I was younger I wasnt. I was actually thin. I started to get fat like in 5th grade. I am going to be 28 in March and I thought I better get this weight off for my health. Plus I have really let myself go haha. I have lost weight before like when I was 18. But I gained it all back and more. So anyway just decided to do this in the middle of Dec. I basically just cut back on everything. Calories, Carbs,Sugar. I cant really go on a diet because I will get way too obsessed with it and not eat at all. I did this in the past so I have to be very careful. I use to drink a lot of coke and would eat bad stuff like Fast Food and Italian food. So I have stopped drinking soda and stopped eating bad food. I just eat good food now and drink water. I am starting to get depressed though because I swear I have not lost anything. I didnt weigh myself when I started and I dont weigh myself now. I dont want to get into that either because again I will get all obsessed. I know I must have lost inches but Im just getting upset. I have had family tell me they can see it in my face but I just dont see it. I want to loose at least a 100 lbs possibly more. I want to be a size 10. That would be great. But I would settle for a size 14 right now haha. I wear a size 28 in jeans but I dont know how much I weighed. If I would have to guess probably like 270 somewhere around there. YIKES!!! I am only 5'4 too. So I am here just to get support and to find others that are trying to loose weight because its so hard. I love food haha. I havent started to excercise so I know thats probably why I havent lost a lot. I just ordered some DVD's from target.com yesterday. I got Tae bo sp? a yoga DVD and Carmen Ellectra's strip tease. So when I get them I will start.

Does anyone eat Lean Cuisine's? When do you think I will start losing more? Its been like 2 months. I just want to be thinner by next Christmas. Im going to visit my family in MD where I grew up and I want to see all my old friends but I cant be this fat when I go. I just wont go at all.

Hi and welcome here, Melysa (: Interesting spelling of your name, any story there?

You're on the right track cutting out the sodas and fast food and just lowering the cals and carbs. I'm doing the same thing myself except for the soda part. Can't seem to get back on the water! I totally understand not wanting to be on a formal plan.

How are you going to measure your progress if you aren't weighing or measuring? Would weighing once a week be ok for you? Perhaps use a scale at a friends house so you aren't running to your own scale obsessively? Once you start exercising, I'm sure you'll see even more improvement, don't worry (:

Well the legal way to spell my name is Melissa. But I have been spelling it this way since I was 12 I think. When I was in school there were so many Melissa's and I like to be unique and oneday I just spelled it out Melysa and thought it looked pretty that way. My mom and sister loved it too so they all spell it that way also. Maybe oneday I will legally change it.

As far as seeing my progress. Maybe I could do some measurements once a week. That might be ok.

Hi Melysa, I love how your name is spelled by the way. It is great to have you here with us. You have made lots of very positive changes, congratulations and you are on your way to many more with your near future addition of exercise. I personally love tae-bo and think you will find that you will receive great results from it and many other exercises. You are right, it is a combination of diet and exercise that wins the battle and you are doing the right things. As for motivation, have you tried measuring yourself if you don't want to become a slave to the scale. It is very encouraging to see the inches drop and can keep you feeling positive. I do think you will see even more results now adding in the exercise. From what I've seen in my own experience, our bodies show our weight loss more when exercise is involved. No matter what, you are making great choices for a healthy life and you can do this.

My jeans are loser. One pair that were tight on me right after I would get them out of the dryer are a little too big now. So I know I have lost some but sometimes I still feel like I havent. I guess I just want to see a huge change but it hasnt been that long. I think doing some measuring will help me see it better. I just have to buy a measuring tape haha.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes I knew I didnt want to do a diet. I wanted to change my eating habits for life. I needed to do something that I could live with. So a diet was out of the question. I may not loose as fast as I would if I went on the Adkins sp? diet or someother ones. But I need to do something so I dont just stop and gain it all back and more. Sometimes I think I would rather just see the weight go fast but I think this is the best thing for me.
