Exercise Equiptment

I'm just curious if anyone has any recommendations on some exercise equiptment. I walk daily, strength train with the ball, and do aerobics 3 times per week, but I really want something that I can replace walking with when the weather is not cooperating. I can't wait to get my tax refund back. I was thinking of an elliptical trainer or a treadmill. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

I used to do *step aerobics* on one of the plastic *steppers* (I think they were by Reebok way back in the day) and used to ride an exercycle about 5 miles a day.

I have an Endurance brand treadmill. It was recommended by a nutritionist and was expensive, about $2k but it has all the bells and whistles: inclines, walking and running courses, calories burned, heart monitor, is programable and lots of other stuff I haven't figured out yet. (For safety sake make sure whatever you use will support your current weight.) I am really enjoying it. Good luck with whatever you get. LK

At my old apt complex the gym there had treadmills, ellipticals, and recumbent bikes that I used regularly and mostly equally. Here's my opinion on each...

Treadmill - I find this pretty boring, and for me it hurts my shins and knees. I'd rather walk outside in the snow I think, LOL! Not a problem where I live, but still... I can easily walk for 45 minutes outside, but that amount of time feels like torture for me on the treadmill, it just never ends.

Elliptical - This one is fun, easy on the joints, and more of a whole body workout if you use the arms. I could only do like 2 mins the first time I tried it, but I worked up to 30 mins and it was always enjoyable to me.

Recumbent bike - I enjoyed this one the most for one and only reason...because it burned the most calories in the same amount of time as the other machines. And it is also nice if you aren't feeling full of energy and you'd like to sit and still burn calories, LOL.

HTH some!
