I do and I use http://www.fitday.com to keep track of my food intake(as well as my exercise intake and so forth). My problem though is I don't keep track every day though.
I also try to make sure I don't have any junk food in the house. That tends to help tremendously.
I was just about to say to go to Fitday.com. I just started journaling there and it helps a lot. I don't really count calories, but it is helpful to see how many calories and how much fat is in the food I eat. It makes me think about if I want regular Ranch dressing or the low fat kind when I see the numbers looming at me.
my doctor challenged me to go on a restricted 1200 calorie/day diet that i successfully stuck with for over a year. i'm now doing 1500/1600 as my standard diet.
along with regular cardio and weight training, i went from 292 lbs to 171 lbs in a little less than a year. more significantly my BMI is now almost at target and i may be able to reduce or get rid of high blood pressure medication i've been taking since i was hospitalized christmas 1999 with near fatal results (brought on by being highly sedentary and weighing nearly 300 lbs). after all that, it still took me 4 years to really see myself the way everyone else did and finally ask my doctor for help.
i'm not where i want to be yet, weight-wise, but it sure feels good to compare those size 5X pants to my current 12's.
Same question as Sharla!
