I wanted to take the time to introduce myself...I'm Lori, and I've been overweight almost all my life, save the first 4 years of my existence. I am 260 and am looking to be around 145-150, so I need to lose about 110-115 pounds. My highest weight ever was 288, and I lost 87 pounds, only to regain 60 back :( I really need to do it this time, because I have glucose intolerance, and knocking on the door of diabetes if I don't get this under control (I'm 26 by the way). I've started adding a lot more fruit and veggies to my diet, and trying to significantly cut out the fat and sugar (although I do cave in from time to time). I've also started walking again, but it's so hard to find the motivation sometimes...I like to walk outside, but it's still pretty cold here in Wisconsin. I would like to know how anyone here got (and more importantly, stayed) motivated to eat right and exercise...is it something you just did, or did you find that you had to have a different thinking process/attitude before engaging in a healthier lifestyle? Thanks, and I hope to get to know all of you better :)

Welcome to the boards Lori!
Hi and welcome Lori,
When I first started trying to lose weight I didn't really want to do it. It was just something I knew I had to do. As I started reading other people's success stories here and seeing changes in my life I became more motivated. I am at the point in my life where I just don't want to be here anymore. Food just isn't worth my health. I took a bite of a cookie the other day and then threw it away. The taste just wasn't worth being overweight for the rest of my life.

Hey!
My Name is Sussie and my stats are 312/298/280(for now). I currently do low carb and low fat. This is the largest I have ever been. I don't know if it is the weather or what but I am having a hard time with my eating. I am going to go to the next WW meeting in my area and check that out. I have done WW before and lost a good amount of weight (which I gained all back).
I just love this board...the people here are so nice and have great advice. So I know you will be happy here with us.

My name is Lori, too. Welcome. I knew about this board for a while before posting. I recently left a high stress job working with abused and neglected children and I stepped on a scale to find I had gained over 100lbs in 6 years. I didn't realize, until I walked away, how work focused and unhealthy my life had become. I feel fortunate that my patient husband and wonderful daughter were such a support for me. Now, I want my life back and to reconnect with my family and friends. That is pretty much my story. I am exited about what the next chapter in my life holds. LK
Welcome Lori,
I live in Michigan - I'm 26 years old and in the past 3 years I've lost 125 lbs to get my weight from 260 to 135.
In all honesty the thing that keeps me MOST motivated is how I feel ~ if I skip my exercise routine or don't eat right I feel like crap; no holds barred.

Hi....I feel that we have a lot in common. I am 35...have been overweight most of my life...and have lost a lot only to gain it back. I was at 268 when I was at the doctor in Dec. I have started changing the way I eat...and then started working out at home like I used to ....and I have lost 12 pounds already. I am very excited. I think that you just have to make up your mind that you want to do it. ANd then stick with it....the little changes you are making will make a difference trust me. I have found that since starting the change my craving for the sweets I always wanted are slowly going away...plus when I start to lose it just motivates me further. I really need to do this time too...I want to get down to about 135. I was almost there once...then met my second husband and got lazy and comfortable again. If you need a buddy...I am here and would be willing to talk you through it. IT is something that you have to take day by day.
Write me ....Jeni
I just want to say thanks to everyone who replied..you've made me feel very welcome here, and I can't wait until we're all a bunch of BIG LOSERS!!! :)
