Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around for a few weeks here, and decided to finally make my presence known. I've been working on making a new healthy, active lifestyle for myself for quite some time now, but in the past I never seemed to stick with it. About 2 months ago, something just "clicked" with me, and now I know I'm ready to do this, for real.

In the past, I always tried to convince myself I wanted to be healthier, but really what I wanted was to stop hating myself. I believed that if I was thinner, everything would be perfect, and I would be happy and love myself. I know now that this is not true, and that even when I do lose the weight, I will still be the same person on the inside, with the same problems and issues to deal with. Through some counselling, I finally learned how to truly love myself, no matter what my size. Now I want to lose this weight because I love myself enough to really and truly want to take better care of myself - body, mind and soul. I have the desire to nourish myself with healthful foods, to respect my body, and to treat myself the way I deserve to be treated.

That being said, I have just under 100 lbs to go. With the changes I have made over the last 2 months, I have already managed to lose 11 lbs. My highest weight ever was 303. That was about 4 years ago when I first started this journey. During the last 4 years, I have lost & gained, lost & gained. Two months ago, when I decided to really make a change for life, I was at 270. Currently I am at 259. My ultimate goal is 160 lbs, and I want to do it by November 2006. My goal is to lose 5 lbs per month, which I think is very achievable for me.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know all of you. I hope I can offer some support, encouragement, and maybe even a little insight every now and then. This seems like a wonderful board full of supportive women, and I'm very glad to have found you.

Hey, I know you!

I know what you mean about getting bored over there. I still check in, but I'm getting a little tired of reading all the posts listing every morsel of food that was put in someone's mouth. I'm glad it's helping them, but I'm just not interested in it.

Not to mention it seems like the majority of the ChangeOne'ers haven't got much to lose, so I'm not sure if they really understand those of us who have more than just a tiny pudge on the belly to get rid of. I think this will just be a better place overall for me.

Glad to see a familiar face!
