Wow! We would never get "sick of" you! I had no idea you were having this much of a struggle. Please feel good about posting here! We are always here to support you. I don't believe any of the ladies here would ever feel that you were wishy washy. We all come here to vent a little, lol. My wishy-washiness (is that a word?, lol.) is why I got to this size! I'm sorry to hear that your mother isn't very encouraging. I would sit down and have a frank discussion with her. I'm a very sensitive person and hearing my mom lecture me would send me into a snack food binge on a daily basis! You need to tell her that you appreciate that she worries about you and the boys, but you are really doing this and just need to find what works for you so that this will be a lifelong commitment. You can't do something that makes you feel bad all of your life. You won't stick to it. If you have to try every plan out there in the next 3 years to find what's right, then fine! As long as you are still exercising and dedicated to doing this, which you seem to be! I wish you the best! Please come and post anytime you feel down!

Hugs,
Theresa

Why does you mother want you to do Atkins only? Has she lost a lot of weight with it? She may just want you to lose weight and not give up. I had a hard time following a low carb diet for the reasons you stated. weight watchers is a great program and if you go to the meetings you will get lots of support to keep you motivated. good luck

Not all plans work for all people and you have to find the one that is right for you.

I can't speak from experience as I've never done WW but I've heard it is a good plan, they teach you portion control and that's where most people need help.

Do what you need to do! I think your mother is just concerned for you and doesn't want to see you give up. She'll leave you alone once you find something that you feel you can stick to.

Good luck!

I couldn't stick to the low carb way either. I was on the Atkins plan a couple years ago and I lost 40 lbs on it...however it just wasn't how I wanted to eat for the rest of my life.

I am now on just a healthy eating plan and it seems to be doing really well. I make sure that any breads are whole wheat, brown rice, etc... I also eat fruits and veggies, lean meats, and low fat dairy. When having a snack(like between the 3 main meal times) I try to make sure it is something like yogourt or fruit. Also I have tried to make a pact with myself to stop eating by 8pm and have nothing after that except for water or sugar free juice/pop. Once in a while I get a little off track, but then I just make sure I get back on and keep going.

I do think that low carb and low fat are very important, but not to the point of cutting out a whole food group.

I know what you mean about low carb eating.....so I switched to WW on Friday. I have lost lots of weight on both diet plans .....now I am more determined and want to keep it off.

I guess I used low carb ( this time around ) for a good weight loss kick off....and switching to WW as maintenance.

Good Luck!

There is nothing wrong with trying another plan and we are not tired of your wishy washiness!
