Do you have friends and family that support your weight loss efforts?
Well honestly, I have no supprot system except for this board and one of my sisters. My husband is always eating horribly (eating take out once a day) and he knows that take-out/fast food is my downfall. But does he stop? No! My family is okay except for the fact that they just love to eat and when anything good happends to anyone in the family, they celebrate by eating ofcourse. One of my younger sisters has been good. She's the one that works out with my with the weights 3x a week while her fiance and my husband sit there and watch and be couch potatoes! But, Im very thankful that I have hung on this far (this is the longest and the most weight i have ever lost) and Im also tahnkful that I found this board! :)

I have a great support system! My boyfriend and son walk with my everyday. They have joined in on healthy eating (at least when I'm around!) and they both have been so encouraging. My boyfriend tells me everyday that he's proud of me, but he loved me before and he'd love me at any size. My son told me the other day that I looked like I lost weight. He's a sweet boy, so he could have made that up, lol. He'll make a good husband one day.
My mom lives in Iowa, but she is so encouraging too! She lost a lot of weight back in 1998 through healthy eating and exercise. She had been big all of her life and she went from a size 24W to a size 10. She was walking about 4-5 miles daily, and going to the gym. Then her hip started giving her trouble. She had this problem when she was my age, but she always thought it was her weight. Well it turns out she has Lupus and now they finally examined her hip and she has osteoarthritis! So, she hasn't been able to work out at all and she is awaiting her surgery! She just encourages me all the time. She says she wished she hadn't waited so long to do it. Watching her transform has been such an encouragement!

Well, so far the only people who really know are my mom, my hubby and kids, and you guys. But everybody's very supportive. My hubby is very supportive, for anything I do, really. But the man likes to eat. He's one of those skinny types with the fast metabolisms, so he's not used to having to watch his weight. So he usually comes home from the store with chips and cookies and all that bad stuff. And he's horrible about trying to feed me (he gets this from his mother). But he's getting a gut he doesn't like, so I'm slowly converting the man to eating healthier with me. ;) My mom lost a lot of weight when she was about my age, so I can call her up and share my successes and she always happy for me. BUT...the
But mainly I have you guys. I don't post much, because I tend to be a quiet, "in the shadows" kind of person (I'm working on this one. lol), but I love coming here, love doing the journals.

What support system? I don't really have one except you guys. We moved this summer so I don't have any "close"friends in the area.(I do have lots of friends so don't feel too bad for me. I just haven't reached the bare your soul point yet.)Also, everyone I know is super skinny. My closest neighbor just ran a marathon. How can I complain to her about not wanting to exercise when she runs 20 miles a day when she is training.
My mom used to be a huge support for me,but she died when I was 20 from lung cancer. My husband is wonderful, but I have lost and regained weight so many times that he has told me that he has a hard time getting excited when I lose weight because he knows I will gain it back. he does support my exercise. He encourages me to go to the gym and we do a lot of hikes etc as a family. He also wants to eat healthy as well and is very concerned about the kids nutrition so eating fast food isn't a problem.
I think once I have lost a lot of weight my friends will be more supportive. They did not know me at 283 so they don't know how far I have come. i don't really talk about my weight so they don't realize I am working on it. My biggest stregnth comes from my self. I have tons of motivation and I really want this. I also find a lot of motivation from reading your success stories. Even if it just a few pounds lost it inspires me to do more.

I live alone so my main support group is this board...you guys really keep me going.
Though my family and friends support me, I take pretty much all of it on my own. My coworkers (mostly the females) often comment on how great I'm looking and ask what I'm doing but for the most part they go about their business.
I've learned that I have to be accountable to myself for the most part. No one nags me on what I'm eating or not eating. I never get looks from anyone if I don't do my daily crunches. So really I'm the one who has to deal with that guilt and disappointment. I only have myself to blame if I don't do. But I've also learned to celebrate and commend myself when I do get off my butt and move.
My MAIN support system is my local TOPS chapter. They are super and so very supportive. My family(parents and siblings) are pretty supportive too and they want me to lose the weight so that I will live a long and healthy life. Also my family doctor is a great support too. She is so easy to talk to and also understands and supports the way I am going about it. And of course my online communities I am part of are a huge support to me especially right when I need the support right away.
I think a support system is very important.
