Thats what Ive decided to try. Im trying not to go over 1500 calories a day. Which is way better that what I used to consume, which was 2200-2500. So im hoping to see a good weight loss. Im doing ok, but I do usually go over most of the time, but still better than before.

Anyone had any weight loss with cutting the calories?

Just curious.

Hello,
I lost 3 lbs (out of 100) last week (my first week of counting calories). I found an awesome link to an online calorie counter...its: www.nutrawatch.com. I really helps me cause u set your own goals on calories, protein, fat, carbs, sodium and cholesterol. It has motivated me to stick with it everyday by being able to see in black and white how I did for the day. Hopefully as I lose more I can decrease the number of calories by a few hundred to keep the weight loss steady. I wish us both luck....:)

I didn't mean to count calories, but since I started journaling I have found it really helps to keep me in control of what I eat. I have been using fitday.com and I really love it. My goal is to get under 1500 calories(usually between 1100 and 1300) and to have 40% good carbs,30 % fat, and 30 % protein. sharla

I count fat calories (max 210/day) along with overall calories in order to measure fat/calorie ratio. This target number was formulated by a registered nutrition based on my bmi. So far this is working well for me because it is about choices and portion sizes and not based on deprivation. LK

Between counting calories and exercising about four to six hours a week, I managed to lose 60 pounds in about a year. I haven't lost any weight in the past few months, despite eating more and exercising less. (Fortunately, I'm not consistently gaining weight, either.) I have used a couple of online calculators, but really prefer to keep track in an Excel spreadsheet I created.

Good luck.

I have a two way system. I count calories and fat grams. I aim for no more than 2000 calories a day and about thirty grams of fat. I am never hungry because rice is a strong staple in my plan. I walk 30 minutes a day to 6 out of 7 days a week and I drink six glasses of water a day. I lose about 2 pounds a week. I have been going at it for two months and I have lost 16 pounds.
