I think I'm going to head out to the library today and pick up a book on it,but wanted to know if anyone has ever tried,or looked into it as an option before. The only message board I've found where it was discussed was 3fatchicks,and it looks like a decent plan that I could live by.I had a friend who was on it,and she lost a ton of weight, felt great and didn't feel like it was only a diet.

I've heard of it, but don't know much about it.

I lost about 50 pounds on it a few years ago and still follow my own version of it. My dr. suggested I try it when we found out I was pre diabetic. It stresses good carbs like whole grains and brown rice etc. No sugar at all!!!! You can eat higher fat foods in moderation.(peanut butter, red meat) It strives for a 40 carb/30 fat/30 %protien ratio. it also goes into the glycemic index a lot, which I never really understood. It doesn't count calories but you still need to watch your portion size. Don't go back for seconds etc.

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions. By the way, I really believe the no sugar part. The way I gained all my weight is by cutting out almost all fat and ended eating a lot of high sugar foods but with no fat. It was a diet I read back in the early 90's that said sugar doesn't make you fat. I started drinking regular coke because it didn't have fat and would load up on low fat carbs. Big mistake. I gained weight so fast. I have also found that I feel better since I cut out sugar.

Yeah, I have never been able to eat a breakfast high in carbs or lots of sugar. I feel like I am going to be sick and get shakey. I also get that way if I eat a very sugery dessert. For years I thought I was diabetic, but the test always showed good blood sugar. I guess some people can do sugar, I can't. sharla

Thanks for posting Sharla, glad to hear someone else who has changed their lifestyle on Sugarbusters idea and has liked it.I've lost touch with the friend that was on it,so can't ask her anything.

I'm not that far into the book yet,but it seems very do-able as an entire lifestyle change, and that pleases me,makes alot of sense to,and I like that it is written to be understood easily. As it is now,we eat whole wheats(though will check labels more carefully),and since my husband is diabetic, are careful on the desserts, corn, potatos.Looking through the fridge though...I didn't realize just how much sugar is in literally everything! All my yummy condiments will have to be looked at now, lol.

My son and I walked 2.2 miles yesterday to get to and from the library :o) Normally I'd drive(it was lightly snowing and hubby had my keys),but since I was determined to pick the book up,we walked it.Can't wait till the weather really breaks though and warms up enough.
