a little restricive but worth it?

hello, I need to lose about 80 pounds and 38 to get into onederland
I watched I Lost It! on the health channel and this girl lost 100 pounds in about a year by only counting fat grams (keeping it at 30 or under 30 a day) is this safe is it healty? I dont know but my ideal diet would include lots of veggies/fruits/grains and some lean meat so I think this would work for me.
Any comments would be great
I'm 17 5'6" and 237 pounds
I excersice 4 times a week at a local gym
