How were you raised

I know that times have changed and that society as a whole is becoming more aware of weight and I definitely don't blame my parents for me being overweight,....but I can see how some of their concepts on eating and food were misleading and definitely do not help.

Spring is Here
Hmmm...as far as what we ate, from what I remember at a very young age,we ate healthy. My Dad had alot of health problems,so no sugars,no fried foods...skim milk, margarine, whole wheats were all in our household. Then my Mother started working evening shifts and my parents divorced. My sister and I would snack all evening instead of eating what my Mom had pre-prepared...no one was around to tell us otherwise.~shrug~Many times when my Mom would come home from work(around midnight),I'd get up and we'd have a snack together.Even worse was when she started dating and her boyfriend would come over with rib tips(George's Ribs~drools~)at midnight on the weekends. Then there was my Dad,who wanted to enjoy the time he spent with us...so going out to eat on the weekends was almost a given. Our hangout was Pepe's.He even came up to my work on many occasions and fed us all lunch,of course, fast food.
As for now,we rarely go out to eat...though when we do,it's usually not the best of places we should eat at,but we're slowly giving up those places.I try to have lots of fresh fruits and veggies on hand(I don't remember having much when I was younger). In fact, just had to buy more broccoli after I just bought some late least week.I'm still working on the late night eating. When I worked late,I got into the same habit as my Mother.I try making only 4 servings of food at dinnertime. While the lil one usually wont eat all of his food,we still have more left over then normal.
