CRAMPZILLA!!!!

Oh my gosh! I was getting ready for bed last night when I was attacked!

All of the sudden I HAD to have salt and chocolate! Unfortunately I had a bag of chips and a big 'ol Baby Ruth bar from a previous adventure, and before I know it I was surrounded by empty wrappers. I felt like I had just "undone" the day's worth of healthy eating, and I fell to sleep feeling like a failure again.

Then this morning I woke up to the tell-tale cramps and the forecast of what's to come. Of course, I've got a wedding shower to attend tonight, and of course it's being held in a trendy restaurant.

How do you ladies handle killer cravings "during this time of month"?

I don't keep the stuff I crave in the house. You don't know how many evenings I have walked back and forth into the kitchen trying to find something that I "want". If it isn't there I can't eat it. I have heard that a little protein will help and even chocolate in moderation. Hope you get to feeling better. sharla

I've heard that if you eat the better chocolate(65% cocoa or better),then you wont over induldge like you would with milk chocolate. It's also not as bad for you as the milk chocolate, just more expensive. As for salty foods,I've found that Triscuts do the trick for me.One serving with a slice of cheese is wonderful, and they have different flavors(the cheddar is yummy, but bad for me because then I eat more then one serving, lol).

I want the empty calories/carbs and salty stuff. I keep pretzels on hand but have stopped keeping beer in the fridge. I don't eat many pretzels 'cause what's a pretzel without a beer???? LK

UGH. I feel for you, hon. I'm there now. CHOCOLATE. I crave the stuff, just like you said, must have it NOW feeling. lol I don't know how to not do it, because I just came home from the store with two boxes of Kellog's Krave Snack Bars (chocolate candy bar disguised as a granola bar. lol). And just had two (mine and the one my son only one bite of).

I did SO good this week fending off these stupid cravings. Yesterday was easy; I'm usually too bloated and crampy. Today I didn't seem to care apparently. lol Ugh. I did good for breakfast and lunch, but still snacked.

I'll look forward to reading the rest of the replies, see if the other ladies have any suggestions, cause I just don't know either. lol

Hi, Ladies!

You guys are all great and I thank you for all you your wonderful advice and replies.

I made it through the day and through the wedding shower in one piece, though it was hard to pass up the cake at the end of it all (but I did!). The one saving grace tonight was that the party was held in a sushi restaurant (not my favorite at all), and they didn't offer much more than that. I had a nibble of this and a nibble of that, but there was nothing there that I was craving so it wasn't hard to control myself.

My co-worker suggested chocolate soy milk to curb my cravings (and it good for me too!), so I just picked up a half-gallon, and I'm going to indulge when I finish posting. I also picked up some fat-free pretzels for the salt craving thing, so hopefully I'm now better "armed" than I was last night in case I get "attacked" again. I will also try drinking more water in hopes that it will help curb some of these cravings too. Man, we sure have a lot to deal with at all levels while trying to get healthy. Sometimes it feels like I'm at war!

Thanks again for all of your support. You guys are a lifesaver! I'm so glad you're here!

TOM -- Been there -- done that -- and finished! Yeah!

But when I use to have the EOM cramps I use to drink a Dr. Pepper soda...it shut down the cramps fast!

When someone told me about it I thought they were just plain ignorant! But one day in desperation and no Midol...I tried it and it worked! And, I had killer cramps. The stuff really works. Recently my DD was complaining and I told her about it she had the same reaction as I did when I heard about it. Then she tried it and it worked.

The deal it is that...I never tried it with Diet Dr Pepper and I don't know if that would work as well...

But those of you who suffer from cramps should try it and see if it works for you.

As far as the eating thing goes I am still in the boat there...I am termally suffering from late night snacking.

Wow! Dr. Pepper????? I've never heard of that before, but I'm game. I'll try it this weekend and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks!
