Wonderful things you've tried recently?

So, I figured I would ask and see if anyone has anything new that they've tried this week that they think is great? An exercise? A recipe? A food? A game?

Ok, I'll go first.

First off, I just started using fitday.com (www.fitday.com), and I LOVE it. It's so great tracking all my calories/nutrients/exercise for the day, and it's really pretty easy once you get started.

I am also loving Pepperidge Farm mini whole wheat bagels. Each bagel is about 3" in diameter, has only 100 calories and has 3 grams of fiber, 8% rda for iron (I've always been lacking in that one), and 10% rda for calcium.

Finally, I have a new recipe that is wonderful on the bagels and for a dip or sandwich spread.

Sun dried tomato "cream cheese"
8 oz container of Philadelphia Light Garden Vegetable flavor cream cheese
6 oz container of fat free plain yogurt, I used Dannon
2-4 oz sun dried tomatoes, dehydrated, not packed in oil

In a food processor, chop tomatoes very finely.
Add the yogurt and chop mixture together (there will still be small chunks of tomatoes).
Add the cream cheese and mix well. I used the food processor for this part too, and it came out really well.

Yeilds approx 30-35 1 Tablespoon servings.
20 calories per serving.

If you want, you could use roasted red peppers stored in water instead of tomatoes, and it would only be about 15 calories per serving.

Your recipe sounds yummy. Today I am having a cold pea, ham, and cheese salad (not new but different from the usual). Take fresh or frozen (defrosted) peas toss in a little ham and shredded lowfat cheddar cheese with a spoonful of low fat mayo (I use full fat mayo). LK

My new fruit treat is Natures Orchard sweetened with Splenda....it comes in a plastic jar and can be found at Walmart in the canned fruit section...I have also found it in other stores in the frig section.

Serving is 1/2 cup; and each cup has 40 Cals; Fat = 0; 1 grm fiber; sodium 10 mg; cholesteral 0 mg; Potassium 60 mg; Protein 0gm.

They can all peaches, or all pineapple; or Fruit Medley all very good.

I think it is 1 or 2 points if your using WW.

I have also noticed other big name brands have a similar products.

I have been on my plan since the first week in January. I have lost 22 pounds. Once or twice a week, I eat at a restaurant or a family get together and have whatever I want and that can include dessert. I eat low calorie and low fat the rest of the week with water intake and some exercise. I have found that I don't feel like a dieter and that I am just someone who is living my life and eating healthy and reasonably. In the past, diets always ended for me because I thought I was deprived at social events or I got bored with the food choices or craved something bad. I have been happy with my new life approach.

Ok. I just posted a rant about goodies, but here is a recipie for a lowfat blueberry ice box pie! It's good too! I've ate one slice for breakfast, and at 313 calories, that's not too bad... Besides, blueberries are really good for you! Have some extra on the side!

You could also probably do this with other types of fruit too! Try peaches, strawberries, (dare I say Key Lime Juice?? LMAO Shawna!)

BLUEBERRY ICEBOX PIE (Serves 10)

* vegetable-oil cooking spray
* 1 1/4 cups finely ground reduced-fat graham cracker crumbs
* 4 tsp light (reduced fat) butter, melted
* 2 cups fresh blueberries (or frozen, thawed)
* tbsp lemon juice
* tsp powdered unflavored gelatin
* 8 oz reduced fat cream cheese
* 8 oz fat-free cream cheese
* 14 oz fat-free sweetened condensed milk
* several fresh mint leaves (come on, get festive with it!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly coat a 9" glass pie pan (or springform pan) with cooking spray. Combine crumbs and butter in a bowl and press into pan. Bake 10 minutes. Puree 1 1/2 cups of the blueberries; mix with lemon juice in a microwaveable bowl. Sprinkle gelatin on top and let stand 10 minutes. Microwave on medium 10 seconds to dissolve gelatin, then beat with an electric food mixer or food processer at medium speed. Beat in cream cheeses and milk. Pour mixture over baked crust and chill until set. Garnish with mint and remaining blueberries.
