Someone correct me if Im wrong, but sometimes it takes a few days for the weight to catch up. Also, your weight will depend on your monthly cycle (i gain 3lbs before aunt flow arrives every month w/o fail) or it may all just be water weight. Don't let the weight gain discourage you! Keep up the work.
are you exercising a lot? (sorry, can't recall at the moment) If so, it could also be muscle gain....muscle weighs more than fat. I recall one week where I'd gained like 4 pounds, but I measured myself and found out that I'd lost 5 1/2 total inches off my body. Looked slimmer, felt slimmer, but the scale still told me I was heavier.
Also, I've noticed lately....I'm trying not to deprive myself, just trying to make better food choices, eat healthier, exercise more, otherwise I just know I'm doomed to fail. But I've been noticing lately that my total daily calorie intake has been between 2000-2200, and I'm not losing much. For like the last month I've been bouncing around 239. I think I've just been maintaining. So I've been upping the exercise a bit, plus trying to cut down the calories a bit. No cheese in my sandwiches, more fresh fruit and veggies when I snack. It's still hard, though, and there've been days when I've still gone over 2000 calories.
I'm with Machelle, honey.... don't let it get you down! Just keep working at it. Concentrate more on how you feel and less on what the scale says. That's what I'm trying to do.
Definitely don't get too down and remember that most of that gain is probably just water weight. To gain 3 lbs one week and 4 by the next, you would need about 24,500 (3500*7) calories ABOVE and beyond what your body already needs. Spread that over the course of 14 days, and thats still 1750 calories extra a day. Although I don't know all your stats (weight, height, build, etc), the bare minimum you'd probably have to have eaten is almost 4000 calories EVERY DAY for 2 weeks to really gain that much weight. I know that they say you can gain 3 lbs or so from water weight, but I've discovered that I can gain anywhere from -8 lbs in 1 DAY just from eating too much "bad" food, even if I only eat maybe 2000-2500 calories TOTAL for the day. Then, 1 to 2 days back on track and I drop them. I weigh myself every day, though, because that way, when I have one bad day or weigh in 2-3 lbs heavier, it's a lot easier to be realistic and know that I didn't really gain that much weight overnight. Just hang in there and I'm sure it will get better for you and I bet that if you stay OP for the next week, all of those extra pounds will be gone. Just to make sure, you may want to up your water intake and go really light on the sodium, just for that extra kick. Good luck and keep us posted :).
Consistency is the key. If you're doing all the right stuff: journaling, planning, good choices, exercising, it will happen. One idea - put away the scale for month and see how you feel. I will put too much emphasis on numbers and not how I look and feel, so I only weigh once a week. Good Luck! LK
