Hubby is a junk food junkie!

I don't know what I'm going to do about this! Tom eats like he hasn't had a meal in weeks. If he has a HUGE dinner, he has to top it all off with a pack of chocolate pop-tarts, or dairy queen sundaes. It's really tough on me to see him eat like this, and here I sit with steamed broccoli and salad. I told him I needed to lose this weight because of my health, and he says he supports me, but he really doesn't because he always suggests going out to eat or asking me to pick up all kinds of junk from the grocery. He could stand to lose a bit of weight too, and all that fat and sugar can't be good for him. I tried to suggest that he follow this diet with me. He wouldn't have to go hard core, of course. But he really needs some veggies in his life. The only veggies he's seen in months are potatoes(in french fry form), and the lettuce he puts on a cheeseburger! He says he doesn't like the kinds of foods I eat. He wants pizza and burritos and cheeseburgers. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can keep my willpower strong with all the junk in my cabinets? I have already refused to cook these foods for him. He cooks his own dinner because I have a tough time resisting temptation. I don't just eat when I'm hungry, I'll eat just because I like the taste of food. I have been doing really good this week. I have not cheated. But it is getting harder and harder. Help!

Sorry about the rant--:o(

All I can say is hang in there and you can do it! It's so hard being surrounded by people eating tempting foods and not join in. Maybe you could find ways to make your hubby's foods more healthy so that you can both have the same thing and you won
t feel deprived. You could try making cheeseburgers with lean ground beef (I would use the 90 or 92% lean and NOT the 96% lean stuff because you can tell a difference) topped with a low-fat cheese slice for yourself. I do this when my boyfriend and I grill out, and oftentimes I just take the grilled hamburger with the cheese melted on top and put it on salad of baby spinach leaves with red onions chopped into them. It's very yummy, I don't feel deprived, and it's actually very low in calories. You could make homemade burritos that are very healthy and he can add extra toppings to his. You could even make a healthy home-made pizza. Maybe for sweet treats you could make chocolate dipped strawberries or something yummy like that. And if you can't find a good compromise and you need some support, know that we are all always here for support whenever you need it!! Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks- I appreciate the advice. I got so discouraged last night that all I wanted to do was eat, eat, eat! But I DIDN'T! Instead I came to the boards and read encouraging posts to other people that are fighting temptation. I feel good today that I resisted feeding my emotions.
