Hello everyone..My name is Lynn.. I'm the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters.. Faith (5 years) and Cayleigh (10 months) .. I have been trying to lose weight, but keep fluctuating. I do an in home 1 mile walking tape every day mon-fri., and I have added crunches to my routine as well. I try to watch my carb intake, and have recently started drinking more water. I currently weigh 315 lbs (started at 321)..I would be happy to reach 200 lbs (or I think I would anyways). My mom had the gastric bypass surgery in Sept. and has lost a whopping 145 lbs so far. It has been difficult for me, because I love her and am so very proud that she would take the chance to have this surgery so that she could be healthier and be around to watch my girls grow up, but at the same time my mother has NEVER been even close to my weight, much less weigh less than me, but she now weights 15 lbs less than I do and I don't know how I feel about it. I know that probably sounds selfish, but I'm really not trying to be. Anyways, I would really like to lose this weight so that I can be healthier and so that I can do more with the girl's. My husband loves me the way that I am, but I am not happy with myself. I want to make a major change, and I have to do it NOW ! .. ok..if u got this far..thanks for reading..sry so long.. really just wanted to introduce myself..

Lynn :)

Hi Lynn,

Welcome to the board. You will get lots of support here. I am just starting out too--Lost 5 pounds so far--trying to make small changes a little at a time. Its hard, but it will be worth it in the end.

I don't think you're selfish for feeling that way about your mom. When you get use to things being a certain way your whole life, its hard to have it change suddenly. I will be interested to know your mom's progress in another 6 months. I used to work in a surgical intensive care where we had a lot of post-gastric bypass patients. When they came in for their follow-ups, we would marvel at their progress. But by one year, more than 1/2 of them were gaining again. That is also a surgery with a high complication rate. My mother-in-law and her sister had it and they never lost a pound! Don't know why. Neither one of them did. I'm doing it by sheer hard work.

thanks so much for all your replies.. and the help about the tickers lol .. Has anyone ever heard of ZetaCap? I'm trying them...they are supposedly the "safe" alternative to the gastric bypass.... ..
