Since we seem to have a good start on motivation here, I thought I'd post some questions for us to better understand each other and the things we need in terms of support:
1.

1. What do you think is the hardest thing for YOU in this journey to lose weight and get healthy?
The hardest thing for me is finding the willpower to not eat out of stress or boredom. I know those are the two biggest factors in my gain, and I struggle with them daily.
2. What is one thing you DON'T find difficult in this journey?
Hmmm...I guess I would have to say that the easiest thing for me in this journey has been giving up "liquid" calories such as regular soda, sweet tea, alcohol, etc.
3. Do you have a buddy or other friend who you compare notes with or give support to? If not, would you be interested in a "buddy" system here?
I don't really have anyone I compare notes with, even though I do have support from my family. I would love to have a buddy system here, I think it would be a great motivator.
4. What kind of goals do you set for yourself? Do you find mini goals easier than long term goals? Do you use a combination of both?
I have my long term goal for my ultimate weight loss, but I also usually have small goals for each week. I like having the mini goals weekly because I feel a sense of accomplishment every time I surpass one of these goals.
5. What can we do as a board to motivate you and help you stay focused and on track?
Well, I think that this board is very motivational as it is, but a buddy system would be great. I also think that if we had more threads for accomplishments/recipes/goals/etc. that would be good too.
Great post!

Great questions Kerstin!
1. What do you think is the hardest thing for YOU in this journey to lose weight and get healthy?
I would say the hardest thing for me is to not think I can suddenly eat whatever I want just because I lost a couple of pounds. I need to remember that I lost those pounds by eating differently and not touching the junk I used to eat.
2. What is one thing you DON'T find difficult in this journey?
For once, Exercise....I sort of have gotten into the habit of having a workout session 4 times a week and notice I miss it. NO, not a gym rat....just Jazzercise or a dvd
3. Do you have a buddy or other friend who you compare notes with or give support to? If not, would you be interested in a "buddy" system here?
Yes, I do. Kerstin and I have been helping each other out and really kicking each other's behinds when we start caving into temptation. Its been really really helpful for me to have someone to remind me what I'm trying to accomplish and not let me slack off.
I think whatever support we can give one another, on this board, be it a formal buddy system or just an overall pat on the back or kick in the behind is very important to a successful weight loss.
4. What kind of goals do you set for yourself? Do you find mini goals easier than long term goals? Do you use a combination of both?
Mini goals are best for me....if I look at how much overall I need to lose, I am more apt to give up.
5. What can we do as a board to motivate you and help you stay focused and on track?
I think just by doing what we have been doing, but being a little more tough when we start veering off track
Great questions!

Thanks Staci!

Ok, I already answered all the other questions, but I just had an idea of what I think would be great on here. I still love the "what are you proud of" posts, but I would also love to see a weekly "diet tips" post, where each person can contribute a great recipe idea, an inspirational story or quote, or just a tip that is useful for curbing overating, eating out, etc. I know we kind of have areas that are for that already, but everything is broken up, and I rarely see new posts in those areas. I think by putting it on the main area more people will see it and contribute.

1. What do you think is the hardest thing for YOU in this journey to lose weight and get healthy?
I think the hardest thing for me is snacking in between meals. I can't seem to stop for some reason..whether it be a couple of animal crackers or a sandwich. I know I shouldn't do it..but I do it anyway, then feel horrible afterwards for my failure to control myself :( .
2. What is one thing you DON'T find difficult in this journey?
I gave up regular drinks about 2 1/2 years ago. Now to me regular drinks taste like syrup. So I think that was the easiest thing...I also found it easy to cut down on my poritions for my actual meals.
3. Do you have a buddy or other friend who you compare notes with or give support to? If not, would you be interested in a "buddy" system here?
I had a buddy at one time from the playgroup message board that I am a member of, but we seem to have lost contact. I would LOVE to see a buddy system here, because for 1. I think it would be great for the board, and 2. I find it easier for me to keep on track and lose the weight I need to lose when I have someone to compare notes with, etc.
4. What kind of goals do you set for yourself? Do you find mini goals easier than long term goals? Do you use a combination of both?
I have been setting an overall goal, which leaves me discouraged most of the time, but now that I have read other's posts on the smaller goals, I am seriously considering starting that.. maybe the 10% body weight goal would be good for me.. great ideas..thx :)
5. What can we do as a board to motivate you and help you stay focused and on track?
I think a buddy system would be awesome.. weight loss buddies are great motivation, and in the past has really kept me focused on the task at hand.
1. What do you think is the hardest thing for YOU in this journey to lose weight and get healthy?
Stress/emotional/boredom eating is the biggest problem for me, that goes along with being a SAHM and having easy access to food whenever my head feels the need for it. I also eat waaaay too fast and even though I might feel full I don't really feel satisfied cuz I just chowed down my meal in 5 minutes.
2. What is one thing you DON'T find difficult in this journey?
Exercise, I workout 6 days a week. Which includes Curves 4 days, other cardio 2 days, pilates and core secrets 3-5 days.
3. Do you have a buddy or other friend who you compare notes with or give support to? If not, would you be interested in a "buddy" system here?
No I don't have a buddy, but yeah, I'd definitely be interested. In the past I've never been completely honest about *everything* I'd eat, but its time I fessed up so I can move on.
4. What kind of goals do you set for yourself? Do you find mini goals easier than long term goals? Do you use a combination of both?
I kinda gave up on goals when I'd make them and never meet them, it was too depressing. But when I actually make them I do a combination of both mini and long term goals.
5. What can we do as a board to motivate you and help you stay focused and on track?
Honestly I have no idea, if I knew what would keep me on track I probably would have done it already ROFL!!

1. What do you think is the hardest thing for YOU in this journey to lose weight and get healthy?
The hardest thing for me is late night eating, and not enough exercise....but coming up fast is eating out with my boss. Also, TEMPTATION.
2. What is one thing you DON'T find difficult in this journey?
Giving up sodas was not hard and smaller portions are not hard for me either.
3. Do you have a buddy or other friend who you compare notes with or give support to? If not, would you be interested in a "buddy" system here?
I do not have a new WOE buddy and would like one very much please.
4. What kind of goals do you set for yourself? Do you find mini goals easier than long term goals? Do you use a combination of both?
I ususally do mini goals however, I have not been able to meet one since I set them up. Maybe that is the problem...that I set them up.
5. What can we do as a board to motivate you and help you stay focused and on track?
I'd like to give the board buddy system a try. I am not sure how that would work...do we keep the same buddy or do we hop around?

1. What do you think is the hardest thing for YOU in this journey to lose weight and get healthy?
Staying motivated. I tend to give up too easy if I find that things aren't going as I had wished they would. For example, even though my clothes have been fitting better my scale hasn't moved. And, that tends to really bother me. I know, I'm foolish!
2. What is one thing you DON'T find difficult in this journey?
Getting in enough water. Caving in to sweets. My husband and son do still eat them and I have found that it doesn't bother me one bit when they do. So, that hasn't been difficult for me.
3. Do you have a buddy or other friend who you compare notes with or give support to? If not, would you be interested in a "buddy" system here?
Nope. No friend or anyone else who is doing this with me. I compare ideas and the like on boards such as this one with others who are in the same boat. My husband and son have also been great support even though they aren't on the same "eating plan" as me and don't need to lose weight.
4. What kind of goals do you set for yourself? Do you find mini goals easier than long term goals? Do you use a combination of both?
I have never really set a goal. I mean I know what weight I'd eventually like to be at when this is all over with. But, as for mini goals, no. Because, if I set a goal for myself of let's say losing "x" amount of pounds by "x" date and I don't, I then tend to wanna give up. So, my goals usually revolve around sticking with the plan for the day, exercising for the day, drinking enough water for the day, etc. I just want to get through today and then worry about tomorrow when it comes. It may not be the best way to do it but it's been working so far. At least mentally.
5. What can we do as a board to motivate you and help you stay focused and on track?
Just keep on giving great ideas and suggestions. I'd also like to see the board more "active". I know most of us work and all but there are times when days go by before anyone posts something. That's why I tend to visit other boards as well. That way if it's slow around here I have another place(s) to go to in case I need it (i.e., feeling down, have a question, etc.)
