Okay, since there seems to be a bit of interest in having buddies on here, I thought I would move the discussion of creating a buddy system to it's own post. Anyone who is interested in becoming buddies can post their information in this thread, then, tomorrow or Thursday we can divide up into buddies. I think it would be a good idea to "pair" up in groups of three, that way we are more likely to have regular support available. However, since we do seem to have a growing number of members, we might just start with "pairs" of two, then when new people come, than can join a buddy pair. Here are a few questions that might make buddying up easier.
1) Do you prefer e-mail buddies, or just message-board buddies?
2) What is your current eating plan?
3) What is your age?
4) What part of the country are you from?
5) Do you have any special obstacles to being able to lose weight?
6) How often do you exercise?
7) Do you use a food tracker such as Fitday.com or some other program?
8) How much are you trying to lose?
You don't have to answer all of the questions if you don't want to, but if everyone would also put down how they would prefer to be paired up, it would be great. After everyone has had a chance to respond, we can go ahead and pair up.

I would love to have someone to trade e-mails with and share recipes, tips, inspiration, etc. with, but a message-board buddy would be fine, too. If anyone doesn't feel comfortable posting their e-mail address on this board, I am fine with posting mine and you can e-mail me directly.
2) What is your current eating plan?
My plan doesn't have a name, but I suppose it would be calorie counting/trying to get the maximum amount of nutrition from my foods.

Nope, other than a love of food!

Sometimes--it's not the most important thing to me right now.

I use fitday and I love it!
8) How much are you trying to lose?
My goal is 105 lbs, and I have 85 more to go.
I would love to have any one of you guys as a buddy. Everyone seems so motivated, and, on days when I have trouble finding my own motivation, you guys are the inspiration I need. I do like to cook and come up with new recipe ideas, so if there is anyone else that likes to be creative while being healthy, it would be great!

--I would love an email buddy. I think it would be great if we had someone to go to off the board to check in with every day. I notice I tend to do better when I check in at the board, but ya'll don't want to hear about every little craving I need help fighting, you know? lol But on the board is fine, too.
2) What is your current eating plan?
--none, really. Just trying to eat healthier (more fruits and veggies, less fattening stuff) and exercise more.

--just my brain. :D

--try to exercise every day (I notice if I don't I'm more likely to slack off on eating and water, plus my energy goes down)

--I do use Fitday.com, mostly to be able to keep track of my calories, especially lately since I seem to be maintaining rather than losing.
8) How much are you trying to lose?
--I have about 65-70 lbs to lose. I'm being realistic and heading for about 170 (150 is what all those lists say is "healthy", but I just know I'll never be able to maintain that).

My name is Sharon and I have been married to my husband for 10 years (on May 20th) but have been with him for a total of 17 years. I am 32 years old (will be 33 on May 23rd). We have an awesome, well behaved 10 year old son. Both my son and hubby are wonderful! They are supportive in every way. I have been an at home mom/homemaker since my son was born. I did volunteer at my sons school full time for 4.5 years until recently when we moved.
I'm just your basic cook. Once in a while I do look for new recipes and ideas on ways to cook our favorite foods (i.e., chicken, fish, etc.). But, I do not come up with recipes of my own. Sorry! LOL!
I love to read. Enjoy camping and fishing with my son and hubby. And just being at home with them and relaxing. We have lots of fun and tons of laughs.

Trying to control portions, trying to stick to about 1800 calories per day. I am adding one small change per week. This week, its water.

I am on a diet for diabetics. No sugars, whole grains, veggies, lean meats.

I have a low thyroid function, diabetes, high blood pressure, and I'm trying EXTREMELY hard to quit smoking, so I'm a bit out of breath when I exercise.

Mostly cutting down on bad carbs and sugar/junk food and reducing portion sizes. Although lately I haven't really been following anything specific.

I have a drs appt next month and I'll be getting my thyroid checked, I really suspect I may have some issues with that. Otherwise nothing but my own bad choices and lack of commitment.

6 days a week. I go to Curves Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. I use the treadmill or recumbent bike on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And I do a combination of pilates and Core Secrets 3-5 days a week.

When I remember to use it I have Fitday PC.

I have around 90-100 more lbs I'd like to lose.
A bit more about me. I'm married and am a stay at home mom to my 2 boys, who are almost 3 and 4. I also work at Curves on Saturdays and have just started up my doula business. I think having a buddy might be really good for me since I don't have much support in my weight loss. My DH is all I've got and, well, he's not unsupportive, but he does a lot of things and eats a lot of things that aren't very supportive.

No. I am trying to use WW log diary but I am not good at that.
