I've was diagnosed with it several years ago. I don't know much about it, though. That was one of the reasons why the Dr. put me on a low sugar diet. From what I understand, if you eat well and exercise you can reduce the risk factors. I know when I went back last week(different Dr.) he said all my blood work looked good. sharla

Hi,

I just read a book, Apples & Pears: The Body Shape Solution for Weight Loss and Wellness which discusses Metabolic Syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes. According to the book these disorders are poorly understood because there are no outward, physical signs. It has something to do with the way our bodies use food for energy. It says that one of the most potent warning signs of possible disease is having an apple shape. The book is full of cutting edge information for both apple and pear shaped women. Check it out!

I am going to Google the title and see if I can get some webb reading on it...I am undecided if I am an apple or pear.

I have a big butt and stomach...but my back is a little big too,,,,maybe from being so big for so long.

Hi SussieQ

You can read all about the book AND find out if you are an apple or a pear at their website, www.applesandpears.org . There's a calculator and there's also health logs that you can download for both shapes!

It's all about loosing inches and not worrying about the pounds. It's where that weight is located. It's written by a woman physician which gives it more credibility.

Let me know what you think.
