Hi All!

I am new here, looking for inspiration and motivation!

Wondering what plan everyone is following to lose weight? What has your success been?

I seriously need to lose weight and stop making excuses! My daughter recently turned one and I want to be the best mom I can be for her. I want to have fun with her, take her swimming, bike riding, chase her around the yard - all without feeling fat and unhealthy.

I am also insluin resistant and have struggled a lot to lose this weight.

My attitude has been all or nothing regarding my weight loss and I'm not sure how to change that. I know that I will stumble and have bad moments but for some reason when I faulter I just give up and never get back on track!

I'm tired of trying again on Monday and failing miserably by Wednesday!

Welcome aboard! I count fat calories and focus on portion control. The one thing that has worked for me is no eating after 7pm. You get a lot of exercise keeping up with your 1-yr old but more activity is key. Best, LK

Hi Lisa and Welcome! I'm recently back here from a long hiatus where I gained a lot of weight that I originally lost and then some!

I struggle every day of my life. It's hard. I've been on and off every diet known to man kind. Some worked some didn't.

Currently I'm back on the wagon (as of yesterday) with a modified low carb/low fat and portion control.

I think that you have to figure out what works best for you and your lifestyle and then commit to it. For me, I had to finally take responsibility for myself and what I was doing to myself instead of finding any excuse to eat badly.

The women here are wonderful for support and/or a kick in the butt!

Glad to have you here and post often and Good Luck!

Hey there, and welcome! I'm new around here too... I have insulin resistance as well, though I find that the biggest problem I have with that is the blood sugar rollercoaster. When I eat something sugary, it takes too long for the insulin to kick in. Thus, my blood sugar spikes. By the time the insulin takes effect, my body has produced so much of it that my blood sugar drops way low, and I just end up craving more sugar!

So, I try and avoid too much sugary stuff, I try and eat my carbs in conjuction with some protein and a bit of fat when possible, and I try and keep to around 40% carbs, and 30% each of both fat and protein, though those aren't rigid rules. Mostly I just try and stay within the number of calories I allow for myself, which I find also allows me to eat when I'm hungry! I used a calorie calculator to figure out the needs for my ideal weight and activity level. There's a link on my site :) Using those numbers, I'm currently creating a deficit of about 1000 calories a day, or enough for about 2 pounds of weight loss a week. It's working out so far, I've lost 13 pounds in the past 2 months (including a couple weeks when I was sick) and I feel great! I go to the gym 4-5 days per week for cardio, and I'm working on adding a strength routine. I work from home, so I also try and fit in a workout video in the evening as a break to working on the computer all night. I have Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease and I just love it - even though I probably look ridiculous, I feel totally sexy! ;) Anyway, best wishes and don't be a stranger!!!
