Well, sort of, I used to post here a few years ago. I've lost almost 200 pounds since 1998 and have platued for the past few years. Luckily I haven't gaine too much of it back. Right now I have some health issues that make me retain water but they are getting resolved. Since I've been floundering around for the past few years I figured I'd better get some support and I know that this board has always been great.

I used to co-host the old Healthy Thoughts/Healthy Body board a few years ago. Very soon I'm having thryoid surgey and I'm just out of the hospital with cellulitis. My doctor has me on oxygen continuously, which stinks, because my thyroid is pressing on my windpipe and cutting down on my oxygen level. Sounds like a good pity party in progress, huh, LOL. Well, I'm not wallering in self pity. I know I can lose weight if I just get serious. Hopefully when I have my thyroid out I can lose easier.

So, that's my story and I look forward to getting to know ya'll.

Take care,
Kathryn

Hi and Welcome back Kathryn. I'm glad you are taking care of your health problems. It's what comes first. You have lost the weight before and will be able to do it again, once you're feeling better.

I look forward to you posting and I'm sending healthy and good luck prayers your way!

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I lost my first 200 by portion control. I tried to eat as many fresh foods as I could, staying away from processed foods when I could. Drank lots and lots of water. Walked as far as I could, that really made it come off. For a while I belonged to TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) but got discouraged when everyone started doing the Atkins Diet and you dared not talk about any other plan...

So, it's been a long journey and I have a long journey ahead. One of the things that make it fathomable is breaking it up into smaller amounts. If I looked at the whole amount that I have yet to lose I'd be so discouraged. For example, right now I want to lose 50 pounds before the end of the year. If I lose more, great!

iVillage's Diet & Fitness Channel was a great source of support. Never have I met anyone on any boards that wasn't nice and helpful. I'm not going to post my weight, it's still too embarrasing, but soon I will.

Take care,
Kathryn

Welcome Back Kathryn!! I, too, am in awe of your 200 pound weight loss. I am struggling with only a few pounds. Let us know how your surgery goes--I'm sure it will be fine. Its great to have another person here at the board b/c it means more support for everyone.
